Meet DoubleCupJohnny: Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with DoubleCupJohnny and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DoubleCupJohnny, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Making beats is fun. Art is fun. It’s not something that is “traditional” like how society wants us all to go to college and get a degree so we can work for whoever and waste our life away while we could’ve been doing something that we love and enjoy. Producing is something that gives me creative freedom. I can make whatever beat I feel like making and just get lost in the sound of the music.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I makes the beats, lol. I’ve learned a lot having to do with different things and how to make a beat sound like it’s supposed to sound (as far as mixing goes). As far as the actual sound of the beat, the possibilities are endless. Music and beats are so timeless and I love that fact that music will be around for the rest of our lives. Being a producer is not necessarily hard or easy, it just is what it is. I love it!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are soooooo many things to do in Atlanta to even name so I would just do things based on what my friend likes to do. If they like shopping, we could go to Lenox or Phipps and to little shops around Atl. If they like to go out to eat we could go to the Capital Grille, or for something less expensive and faster we could go to Mama’s and grab something. If they like to party we could go to a lounge or nightclub. There’s literally so many things that a person could do.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would definitely like to give a big shoutout to God. I would also like to give a big shoutout to my family and loved ones. I have such a great support system and they are so happy for me and my success in everything that I do. I’m very grateful for them.
