We had the good fortune of connecting with L.A. Roberts and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi L.A., do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
My favorite quote is my own “SUDDENLY there will be a shift and it can happen today. Are you ready?” I love the possibility of amazing things happening suddenly. I wake up every morning with a child like faith that today can be the day all of my dreams come true. With that child like faith I am always ready for amazing things to happen. I also challenge others to be prepared for these things as well. People are always waiting for one day but what if today is the day. The beautiful things that I want in life will not be a surprise because I expected them.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
What sets me apart from others is my passion to reach people in places that most wouldn’t want to go. I have grand dreams and aspirations that I will see happen. Ever since I was a little girl I wanted to help people every where I went. I always loved to encourage and open the eyes and hearts of people. First to themselves so they can then help others do the same. I live in a space of child like faith where anything is possible and we wont know unless we try. I’ve been given amazing opportunities to speak at places such as the United Nations, Georgia State and the American Red Cross. My Papa was always the same amazing compassionate person every where he went. I am proud to say that I’ve been blessed to be the same. I treat everyone with respect no matter their title. I’ve seen some people change and become something else which is unfortunate. I’m happy to say no matter what I carry the same compassion as my loving Papa. I got where I am in business today by allowing the failures to become opportunities to reinvent. Business can be hard and it can be even harder if you’re not patient and kind to yourself. I learned to fluid and flexible. I learned to always remain teachable. Things are temporary and subject to change all of the time so learning to go with the flow is a must. Its not easy all of the time. It can be very difficult especially when you have your mind set on a particular outcome. I’ve learned to celebrate everything. Big and small accomplishments alike. I am a big fan of self care. When I face a challenge I always take time to re-evaluate and breathe. I take the time I need in order to change my perspective of whatever the challenge is. I’ve cried and I’ve had my moments but I make sure its just that a moment. I don’t have children yet but I always ask myself what quitting now would mean for their futures. Is it worth me stopping because I’m emotional? The answer is always NO and I keep going because of their possibilities. My ancestors fought and died to get me where I am now and where I’m going. I am my ancestors dreams. A little setback will not stop me from carrying the torch for the generations that will come after me. Like them I am setting the stage for greatness to flourish even more. . I’ve leaned a lot of lessons along the way but one I hold is take your time. I used to be in a space when I thought everything had to happen right now. I was always in a hurry to get things done. Now I am enjoying the journey more than rushing to the destination. Its a beautiful process that everyone should take advantage of. What I would want the world to know about me is I have a heart for seeing others free and healed. Life is a beautiful journey and we should all enjoy it. Sometimes events slow us down or try to keep us stuck. Everyone deserves to breathe, sit, stand, walk and run in their power. I’ve been blessed to do that everyday. Im very grateful. Every setback was worth where I am now. I am worth it. Im grateful and want others to know their worth as well.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Its funny you ask that question because I actually just had a friend visit. Of course we would have breakfast, lunch and dinner. I absolutely love food. We had breakfast at Egg Harbor and The Original Pancake House. We always had late breakfasts so something quick for lunch like maybe a pretzel from the mall. we enjoyed Perimeter Mall and Lenox Mall. For dinner we went to South City Kitchen, Sage Wood Fire Tavern and Joey D’s Oak Room. We also got massages and spent the day at Chateau Elan for tea and wine tasting.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my Papa Leon F. Howard Sr.
