Meet Jewel Hazelton | Lifestyle Blogger

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jewel Hazelton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jewel, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
Your community is everything. It’s important to have a people surrounding you that inspire you, lift you up, but also aren’t afraid to get raw and real. This goes for your personal and professional life. This is especially important in the blogging industry because your community is the lifeblood of your brand. Tune out the advice that you need all the bells and whistles to launch your blog or brand, focus on building your community first and the other part will come.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The idea to launch a blog came to me when I was freelancing as a journalist. I decided to create an outlet where I could own my narrative and share my interests and advice with others. That was 2010 when blogging was a very new industry. There was a small community of lifestyle bloggers around at the time, especially in Atlanta. The industry has grown so much since then. I think what I’ve learned over the years is that consistency and community are key. I’ve had ebbs and flows in my success, but I’ve always stayed true to my heart and remained passionate about why I started my blog. I originally launched under the name Eat.Drink.Shop.Love but rebranded to my current brand in 2019 as After Sunday Dinner. My blog has evolved over the years as I’ve grown as a person.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am an Atlanta native so I have several places in the city that I recommend to people when they come to visit. If you love fitness, Atlanta has some great trails in the area for walking and running. My friends and I love walking on the trails near the Chattahoochee River and on the Beltline. If you want to grab something healthy while in town grab a smoothie or juice from Dtox or Clean on the Westside. If you are hungry after walking on the beltline pop over to Ponce City Market to grab something to eat, I love grabbing a quick bite to eat at Marrakesh or heading up to the rooftop for some apps and drinks at 9 mile station. For shopping, I also love supporting businesses at Ponce City Market, there are many great small and large brands there. After leaving Ponce City Market, I typically head to the Westside to shop at White Provisions. Some of my old favorite places to eat are Barcelona, South City Kitchen, O-Ku.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
For me it’s my community of followers, throughout my 11-year blogging career. I’ve had a small but mighty community that continues to show up by supporting me and my brand.
