Meet Jamee Niehoff: Music Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamee Niehoff and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamee, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
In the music industry there is a lot of gatekeeping. If you want to get something done, most of the time you have to figure it out on your own (unless you want to pay someone good money to do it for you).

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I got where I am today through self-motivation. It was not easy. Everything that I know how to do I had to teach myself. If you really want something, you will find a way to do it no matter what. Doing music is not easy and you will only last in this industry if you truly enjoy making music. I’ve learned that you will be unhappy if you do music for the praise because even though there is praise there is also criticism. You have to make music because you enjoy it & not for the acceptance of others. I want the world to know that my brand is a work in progress because I am working on self acceptance over outside acceptance. I want to make music for the sake of creating & not for any validation.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite places to go are to Egdewood bars, Little Five Points to go shopping, & definitely to my favorite places to eat (I love food). Fellinis, the Vortex, Hattie B’s, etc. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
