We had the good fortune of connecting with Elena Carne and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elena, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Our business idea started many years ago in my native Venezuela when I was only 15 years old, I grew up in a small beach town and I started designing my own bathing suits. My friends loved them and began to order them from me. In just a couple of years, I started running a swimsuit and beachwear design manufacturing company. After I immigrated to the United States I enrolled in English Classes that lead me to go to The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and obtain my Fashion Design Degree. As soon as I finished school I saw a void of colorful and vibrant clothes in the fitness market, that is when I became inspired to create an athleisure wear line and I founded T31.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My South American culture is key to our creative process, but our southern roots embrace the more practical side. We want to motivate ladies to live an active, positive lifestyle by incorporating vibrant colors with comfort and great quality. We have learned along the way that self-confidence and joy play a big role in our overall wellbeing, therefore our clothing inspiration comes from the heart.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Americus has a wonderful downtown. My recommendation is to go for a stroll around diverse boutiques and do a little shopping. Then, head to Gyro City Mediterranean Grill and have a nice lunch, a must-have is the Mediterranean Platter and the Chicken Shawarma with fries, and a must-have is the Hot Cardamon Tea with a piece of Baklava. Then just a few steps away is Cafe Campesino, we can sit and enjoy the weather and have a nice cup of freshly roasted coffee and yummy pastries. We can end the day at The Historic Windsor Hotel sipping a nice drink at Floyd’s Pub with a beautiful downtown balcony view with friends.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Our number one shoutout goes to our Lord Jesus Christ, our sustainer, and provider “The Lord is my Rock, my fortress, my place of safety”… (Psalms 18:2) If it wasn’t for our faith we would have not moved forward in this challenging time.
