Meet Genesiz: Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Genesiz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Genesiz, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
By the end of my career I want to have made an impact on the culture and my generation through the power of music. I could say all the awards like an E.G.O.T or Billboards awards (which I still want don’t get me wrong….lol) however, impact and influence through my art is what I find most important. Fortunately, that isn’t quantified by the awards or popularity, that piece is left in the heart of my fans and people that consume the music.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is music. It is the vehicle to the happiness and the anchor to my soul. I have been singing my entire life and have been blessed to be on some of the largest stages the world has to offer. When I was younger I won the international talent competition, AMTC. From there I auditioned for season 9 of American Idol and made it to the end of Hollywood week before leaving the show.

Since that time I have taken the grassroots approach and have worked hard to build and maintain long lasting relationships within the music industry. I have been able to put out multiple singles and a debut E.P., Love Matrix, as well as a Virtual Concert by the same name. The dedication, time and persistence that went into making these goals happen was the furthest thing from easy. If people get nothing else from my story, I always want them to know that hardwork and dedication does pay off and often is 10 times better than any short term achievement. This was my main focus in creating my last body of work. I’m most proud of just getting it done!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I like lowkey places with a lot of personality. Atlanta is starting to have many places in different parts of the city that are reflective of the area and are still positive representations of Atlanta nightlife. Our itenairy would be

Monday- We would start the day on the Beltline riding bikes and later that noght head to The Consulate. They’re located in midtown and change their menu every month to another part of the world. They also have some of the best drinks in town. Tuesday- We’d start at Piedmont Park and maybe grab some tacos for Taco Tuesday. Later that night we’d head to The James Room for some live music.

Wednesday Marcel- One of the best kept Steakhouse secrets the city has to offer

Thursday- Garden Room for some great drinks then pop over to Rocksteady for more drinks and a good time. Friday we would hit Grana’s rooftop bar for some of their famous potatoe pizza.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe so much to so many people that have been a part of my success thus far. My team deserves the biggest and brightest shoutout of all time. Howell Designs Production company deserves so much credit for my success through my first project Love Matrix. They filmed and edited 5:9 The Making of Love Matrix, Love Matrix The Virtual Concert Experience as well as worked on all creative concepts for the E.P. Along with them Marquis Ward, my makeup artist. The Wardrobe Connect, who is responsible for styling me. Coach Codes my creative director. Visions to Life Decor (Jade Dejean) and of course my hair stylist, Chaise. If it were not for these amazing souls believing in me and lending their gifts and talents there is no way I’d be anywhere near as successful as I have been in this industry.
