We had the good fortune of connecting with Aya Mackhoul and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aya, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I think the most important factor behind the success of my brand is the genuine love and passion for what I do! I always say, “When you’re genuinely doing what you love to do, everything else will fall into place.” My blog has always been a safe space for me to express my creativity and share it with others. Along the way, I’ve built a diverse community of people who love food just as much as I do.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
@Atl.foodz started off as a small blog that highlighted all kinds of restaurants in and around Atlanta. Over time it developed into more of a creative space where I can showcase my own passion for cooking and baking. The Covid-19 pandemic brought along so many challenges. Not being able to go out and discover new places was difficult and I found myself losing the motivation to keep up with it all. I decided to take a step back and focus on new ways to expand my page. This is what ultimately led me to begin sharing my own recipes and home cooked meals. I do still post about my favorite spots in the city along with my own recipes and creations.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Midtown is definitely one of my favorite areas of Atlanta. There’s just so much to do! Piedmont park, Ponce City Market, and the BeltLine are all really great places to take friends who are visiting. Have a picnic, go for a walk, and finish the day with drinks and incredible views at one of Midtown’s super exciting rooftop bars!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to my family! They’ve been so encouraging and supportive from the very beginning. And a super special shoutout to my sister, who tags along on all of my foodie adventures! It definitely wouldn’t be the same without someone to share the experience with.
