We had the good fortune of connecting with Connor Wiegand and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Connor, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Growing up, I was a rule follower and terrified to step outside of the norm. Why would I venture into the unknown if I knew I could be safe in the expected? A little over a year ago, I came to a halt in my career. I was disappointed that my life felt ordinary. After only a couple of days of mulling the decision over, I left the corporate world and decided to carve my own path. I always knew I wanted a creative career, and I wanted to make a significant impact. I didn’t realize I could do all of this and be my own boss. While my life is uncertain and much more spontaneous than I ever thought it would be, I couldn’t be more excited for what is to come. After all, no risk, no reward.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career is a hybrid – I am a freelance content marketer and a content creator. I love my hybrid role because either way, I’m making an impact on someone’s life or career. My background includes over six years of marketing and advertising experience dealing with multi-billion-dollar businesses. I bring that experience to the table with small to medium-sized businesses to benefit their digital marketing efforts as a freelance content marketer and strategist. My goal is to share my content marketing expertise, specifically social media, and website content, to help other businesses, especially women-owned businesses, reach their goals and succeed. I also use my marketing experience to partner with various local and national brands as an influencer in my free time. I’ve been an influencer for quite some time but didn’t take it seriously until a few years ago. It wasn’t until I received various direct messages from followers saying I helped them in one way or another. While my community is currently small, they are mighty, and they are what keeps me going. My social platforms share my minimal and everyday style, clean beauty, and ultimately pieces of my life. This past year has inspired me to be an activist in many ways, including racial injustice, feminism, and environmental causes.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If the weather is nice, Atlanta has so many fun spots to hang out in. I’m a huge foodie, so my list is a lot of restaurants. To name a few…
– walk the beltine and stop at some great places on the way (Ladybird is a fun stop for a drink outside)
– stop by Ponce City Market while on the beltline while you’re at it
– Oku for amazing sushi
– The Optimist for amazing seafood
– Hotel Clermont rooftop for a drink
– Antico for the best pizza
– Barcelona wine bar is a chain but one of my absolute favorites Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother, fiance, and best friend have been the best support system in my career and lifestyle change. Without their encouragement and my faith, I would have been too afraid to create this new journey.
