We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeff Payne and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeff, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to do something that I love, to have things to look back on when I get older, and to help uplift others in the process as well. I’m a huge fan of supporting small businesses and will do whatever I can to help anyone break out of their 9-5 job for something they’re passionate about.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started taking photography seriously about 5 years ago. Before that I had a YouTube documenting my travels, and making silly little short films. I’ve always enjoyed entertaining people, to give an escape to someone who may be having a bad day. The more I created, the more people wanted to book me for projects. It kept blooming until it replaced my 9-5 job. I focus on dark moody atmospheres, and encourage my clients to take adventures further away from normal areas for a more unique setting. I love hiking, and sunsets on mountain peaks. To capture a couple making memories in these beautiful locations never feels like a job, and I am forever grateful.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of the most requested spots I get is a little place called Carver’s Gap. It’s on the border of Tennessee and North Carolina, directly on top of a couple mountain peaks. The views are incredible up there. If you’re in this area, I highly recommend checking that place out. My all time favorite trip was capturing a wedding at the Stanley hotel. I got to stay in room 217, and nerded out the entire week. That place needs no introduction. One of my favorite places to eat is a place called “The Angry Italian” and it’s located in Bristol. Deep dish pizzas have my heart. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To anyone who has helped me get to where I am, thank you. All of the support, whether it be on a set, or just a simple like and share on a social network. I couldn’t have done it without you. 🤘🏻
