We had the good fortune of connecting with Maya Table and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maya, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. And a prayer that I say when I have meetings, have to lead team or during speaking engagements is “Lord increase as I decrease”. Both of these affirmations help me to immediately take pressure off of myself and undo any anxiety.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
It’s always been interesting to me that people separate the various forms of film and video production so harshly. I remember when I would tell people on film sets that I was a music video producer, they’d immediately turn their noses up. To me film, tv, music video, and creative content production are all the same, divided by small nuances. So I never found it odd that a dabble in all of the types of production. I always wanted to direct but while I was in school I just wanted to be a sponge. So I did internships and learned to edit because I felt it would help strengthen my director’s eye. It absolutely did! While in school also worked at a student media center where I had to learn how to use the camera, lighting equipment, design software etc. to be able to assist students that came in. The internships and the media center, hard work are what molded me into a multi-hypenate. Director, producer, editor.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Whew chile COVID is still poppin’ in these streets so the bestie and I would go walking on the beltline a few times during the week but mainly stay inside ordering uber eats and prosecco. And binge watching shows/ films. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
While in college, I interned for free for 2 years on various film sets and also at HOT 1079 in Atlanta. I interned at BET as well. so shoutout to them. Being able to be a fly on the wall in all of those settings really helped me to quickly learn a higher level of professionalism and repour. Also shoutout to my family for the encouragement and video commissioner Emmanuelle Cuny for her patience. I used to really work all of her nerves when I was a new, green music video producer lol
