We had the good fortune of connecting with Damian DJ Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Damian, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
In simple terms, risk is the possibility that involve uncertainty about the effects/implications of an activity with respect to something that human’s value (such as health, well-being, wealth, property or the environment), often focusing on negative, undesirable consequences. So, when I relate that to myself, I think on the risk when my visit to the ATL inadvertently became home for the last 3 years , not knowing what the outcome would be, how I would make it , or what direction I would take. When I think back on the day, I came to the ATL to visit and how that decision impacted my life, being away from my family, having to grow up instantly , it helped identify and anticipate potential setbacks, things that could make me or break me. My relationship with God has kept me , my relationships and uprising with my parents has grounded, and my determination has molded me, so there is no risk without determination and being focus cannot handle.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is my ability to express myself through performing, which includes dramatic improv, and dialogue. When I think of what makes me different it would be my lively personality, my versatility in my appearance, and the ability to not only deliver but to captivate my audience where ever I my be. Everyone has a starting point no one starts from the top, unless there is family history behind it , my starting point was a challenge in its self because all the odds were against me, But with that determination and someone to believe in me as much as I believe in yourself is what helped me get where I am today, I’ve learned that trust is earned and respect is given and in everything you do count it all joy. When you talk about sharing your experience with others I would have to say follow your dreams even when it appears that you may have to detour in a different direction, what ever it may be. my dreams leads me to one day be nominated for an Emmy and shoot for the Oscar for my performance. Showing that with determination anything is possible and I am an example of it from homelessness, abuse, and unforeseen events to using my talents conquering goals and dreams and letting nothing and no one stop me from manifesting the path that God has given me

Secondly I give thanks to my mother(Teresa) for being my strongest supporter through my transition in becoming the man that I am today with her words of encouragement and wisdom, also my father (Garrett) who has been instrumental in my growth, and my sibling (Darnnell, Terrence & Mayia) for keeping me motivated.
