We had the good fortune of connecting with Viola Choice and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Viola, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe the most important factor behind my success and the success of Chosen is first God, of course, but secondly our authenticity. We are a Motivational Clothing Line that was created to inspire people while providing fashion. We are for the people with real lives, and real stories. Real people that have gone through hardships and that are trying to make it. Real people that came from the bottom and dream of the top. I think a lot of people can relate to that and I think that’s where our success comes from. Third, we work hard. Period point blank. We work every single Day.

What should our readers know about your business?
Chosen Official is a motivational clothing company with a platform to inspire individuals to recognize their light within a dark tunnel. The Chosen collection is where culture meets fashion – curated to inspire the Chosen one to embrace their divine path by uncovering their purpose. We are more than a brand, we are hope. I created Chosen in a very painful part of my life. When I needed it the most. When I was in college, my boyfriend had passed away. My heart was empty and I created Chosen to keep me busy and give me something to wake up and be happy about. The road has been far from easy and it’s easy to get down on yourself especially when you’re low on money, when you feel like nobody is supporting you, or when you’re just going through life’s obstacles. I learned that you must turn your pain into your purpose and never give up. Hard times build strength and help to learn valuable lessons. I love Chosen and I love what I do. I love creating. I’ve gone from having to spend my last to pay somebody to do everything, to now having my own camera, T-shirt press equipment, sewing machine and now working towards an embroidery machine.I am most proud of our growth and evolution as a company. I love the inspiration we give to people through our clothing. We go the extra mile. Some of our great achievements include our first fashion show last year at Tyler Perry Studios / Artlanta in Atlanta, GA. We have also been in three stores. I give Chosen my all and always will. I pray over my Business everyday. The work is just beginning and God is behind it all!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
ATLANTA ATLANTA ATLANTA! Truly no other place like it. If I had a week long trip with my bestie we would have a blast. I would want her to have an authentic view of ATL. With some tourist attractions and some hidden gems. We would definitely hit up Peters Street, Escobar, 656, or Boogaloo to get some drinks. Then head to Negril, the Sundial, Mr. Everything’s, or get some WINGS for lunch!! She would of course have to check out Waffle House one night after the club too! I would love her to see some main attractions like the botanical garden, museums, and the Farris wheel. I would take her to Lenox AND Cumberland to do some shopping. On Sunday, I would take her to my Church, Ebeneezer Baptist Church. Following the service go over to Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King‘s tomb. As well as their original Church and the house he grew up in down the street.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this story to my Grandmother. She passed away about 3 weeks ago. She was and is my everything. My grandmother has been the rock of my family my entire life. She was paralyzed for the last 15 years and only had function in one hand. She would always find a way to text me with her flip phone, and tell me how beautiful and smart I was. She lived in a medical facility and never gave up trying to walk again. Due to the pandemic, I would have to go see her outside the glass of the hospital windows. That didn’t stop us from being there every Sunday. My grandmother never gave up and lived through some of the toughest times. She is where I get my strength and she deserves all recognition for my success.
