We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryan Righteous, Seantana and DJ Jeremaya of Trackstarz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ryan Righteous, Seantana and DJ Jeremaya of Trackstarz, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Our biggest factor of success is our ability to believe that through faith and hard work we can achieve anything!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We started out as 3 guys who would sit around the basement of a student-run radio station at Clark Atlanta University complaining about our struggles in relationships. For the most part we were really just talking to each other, we never thought that cutting up clips from a 4 hour show and posting them on the Internet would have led to us developing loyal following and establishing a niche audience base. We started from humble beginnings. We began as interns that later ended up working for the mainstream radio station we interned for, Urban-One. Urban One is the parent company of WHTA Hot 107.9, an Atlanta-based Hip Hop radio station. We each worked in separate departments, Ryan was in Sales and I was in Promotions. Regardless of what we did as professionals, we were also artists ourselves looking to be an outlet of change. Myself and DJ Jeremaya are both Rappers and Spoken Word artists. We started a group with our peers known as FMG (Freedom Music Group) in our first few years of getting together. We were able to use our radio show and music showcases to promote our brand, Trackstarz. We later went on to develop multiple brands of the Trackstarz name, Trackstarz Radio, Trackstarz Television, Trackstarz Music and the Trackstarz Universe. Each division has played a major part in leading us to our most elevated platforms for radio, television and podcasting. We have been syndicated on over 200 radio outlets, featured in the top 200 for music podcast on ITunes, and we’ve appeared on Satellite and Cable TV for a pilot and Season 13 of our show. It wasn’t easy to get it going and even to this day we still face significant challenges. One of biggest has been expanding beyond our niche audience of Christians influenced by Hip Hop. However, we intentionally want to cater to an audience of non-believers that may have questions about God or may be looking to find their identity and will hopefully find it through an introduction to Christ.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
With COVID being considered, if we were to take you on a virtual journey into our space we would introduce to music and talent beyond your wildest imagination. We believe that some of the best artists putting out music today are deeply imbedded in our Genre. Picture a screen share from inside a platform such as OBS. Consider that we are taking you through a Spotify playlist we would introduce to ground-breaking artists such as 2-time Grammy Award winner Lecrae, KB, Andy Mineo, Aaron Cole, Derek Minor, Dee-1, 1K-Phew, Emcee N.I.C.E and Jackie Hill-Perry. Then what we took you over to Youtube and showed you some the most enhanced and creative visuals for music groups like Reach Records, Red Guerilla Entertainment, Reflections Music Group, and the Dream Junkies. We encourage to check out all these artists and many, many more within our genre.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We want to shout out to our wives, Latoya Moore ( Ryan Righteous) Alfie Grant (Seantana) and Maya Dawson ( DJ Jeremaya). They have encouraged us to keep going year after year. We are now in our 15th season of syndicated radio, podcasting and television and we owe it all to them. Not only have they given us the flexibility to travel, keep late hours and invest our time and money, but they are also the instruments that have been building up our confidence and urging us to aim for excellence. They are also operate in the shadows and behind the scenes in many facets of our company.
