We had the good fortune of connecting with Stacey Lynn Emerson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stacey Lynn, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I originally started my business because I had a deep love for fashion! It was tradition to go window shopping/shopping every week when I was younger and I wanted to bring my view on style to one store! The thoughts that went through my head was how I want people to feel when shopping because it always bought me so much joy! I wanted people to experience a shopping experience online that felt like they were shopping with family or girlfriends!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The art of style is what sets every person apart! You can have the same closet and look completely different and that the beauty of style! I love that you can not compare creativity because what makes me smile may not make someone else smile but it doesn’t make it any less beautiful! I am excited to continue to evolve as a fashion designer using my knowledge and my creativity to fill gaps in the fashion industry that exist for women of all different shapes and sizes. The way that you get anywhere in life is by trying and that was no different in my life as a fashion entrepreneur! I continued to try until I was successful! I found my lane while driving down a seven lane highway! Sometimes people will tell you that you should stay in your lane and most people get discouraged from following their dreams because it seems as if they don’t have one! Overtime I figured what my strong area was and I focus on that but in the beginning I failed often but got up quickly to try again. Nothing about following my dreams was easy but it was easy to follow the dream. When you have a vision of yourself being better than where you are it becomes easy to strive for what you seen but the road that it takes to get there will not come with potholes and speed bumps. There moments of acceleration and moments of traffic jams but in all the moments I remember to keep the destination in mind. I remember that I’m to the end then the beginning . I remind myself of my why and I keep going. One of the biggest lessons I learned on this creative entrepreneur journey is that self discipline and focus is what stands in the way of success! If you can master discipline and focus! I want the world to know that with God ALL things are possible and with faithfulness, perseverance and patience any thing you put their mind and efforts to can happen. Understand our ongoing road success is not easy and was not quick but as we continue to climb our goal to empower women will not change. Staying consistent with who you are and who you serve is the most important key to success. Don’t stop pushing towards the goals that you have one day it will all be a reality. Stacey Lynn is on a mission to change the world through style by evoking confidence and boldness in being classy and stylish!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As a true Chicagoan we would have an amazing week with a visit downtown Chicago! We would enjoy shopping on Michigan ave and the Water Tower and then enjoy brunch at one of the hottest black owned brunch spots like Batters and Berries, lunch at Grand Lux and then enjoy a boat trip off of the Chicago river and biking on the Lake Shore dr. When the sunsets we will get dressed and head to the top floor of the Sears Tower (Willis Tower) at the famous Signature Room. You can’t come to Chicago without enjoying our famous pizza spots and Italian beefs and our very famous Harolds and Uncle Remus Chicken with Mild sauce. The days will be filled with fun and adventurous activities like go kart riding, simulated sky diving and roller skating.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I give all praises to the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob our lord Jesus Christ for placing me in a supportive family! Words cannot express how much they have done to help me stay encouraged and continue to build in the midst of adversity! They give me hope in the way they speak about my business and how they show up for me! When I am in need of extra hands they may come kicking and screaming but they are right there! It truly takes a village to build an empire and my village includes my family and my friends who have become family. Of course where would I be without my customers and clients who choose my business and I over and over again! It’s truly too many people to thank to just isolate one group of people but I cannot forget to thank all of my coaches who push me to show up as a better me!
