We had the good fortune of connecting with LaJoyce Waajid and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaJoyce, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is understanding that everything is obtainable especially those things that are purposed for me. I understand that it is not my place to fit into a particular standard when it comes to success I am that standard. By setting goals that will not only benefit my children but others whom we come in contact with allows me to taste sweet success everyday! The most important factor behind the success of my brand is my intentions to aid in the healing process of individuals through my beverage. My intention to develop a brand and a product that would change the way people consumed coffee and/or a latte was out of mere love. My love for people to see them happy, healthy and evolving as better stewards in health was the key and everyday as I am allowed breath and I get my product in the consumers hands I victoriously triumphed. My brand NUBIAN HUE NON BREW is my success.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am the creator, curator and cultivator of Nubian Hue Non Brew The worlds 1st Faux coffee beverage. My company specializes in coffee alternatives in latte form. I am the holistic chemist behind all of the recipe’s. My plan was to create tasty herbal blends that would have greater benefits to consumers on a restorative level. I am not a coffee company this is Faux coffee and its basis is all root, herbal and plant based. The thing that sets me apart from others is my creativity and ingenuity, giving you the look of coffee and in some flavors a similar taste of coffee yet removing the adverse effects. The Faux Coffee beverage still gives you energy because we use things such as sweet potato’s, cashews, and nut butters in our lattes as substance for fuel thus offering you health on the go. No crash, no burn just natural energy! What I am most proud of is my ability to withstand adversity as a small business owner while watching the impact that it has made is most exciting. Its like the product is my child and I’m a very proud mom. The road for me was not paved in gold and of coarse I can not cash my trust fund check(just kidding) therefore my determination is all that I know and no is never the final answer for me in business. As a serial entrepreneur I have gained it all and lost some, yet the greatest things I have learned is stored in my brain only to be pulled out and applied in this venture when necessary. My journey thus far in business arrived by shear perseverance, purpose, and power. Nothing that I have done in life is easy and starting Nubian Hue Non Brew is no different. That trust fund check did not cash (lol) so brain power and muscle has been used the most. I’ve had to take a lot of risk and armed with 3 children did not lighten my load, but my belief did. My belief in myself , my capabilities and more importantly my product/ brand allowed me to overcome my challenges. Through these challenges I have learned some very valuable lessons and that is to never give up, forget the pass, implement proper accounting practices, stay focused, create a system and keep working towards your goals. I want the world to know that behind this awesome brand is an awesomely fierce woman behind it, that will not quit and wants to offer you a little health on the go. My brand was created for all people with an understanding that there is different hue’s in color line and also different hue’s in health and Nubian Hue Non Brew just wants to meet you where you are.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite spots to visit is LIFE BISTRO in Atlanta. The owner, the food and the vibe is amazing. This is Atlanta baby so there is always something to do and Festivals are a must. The veggie taste is one of my favorite events Dinner time is the best time because we can go to cafe sunflower and have a little vegan food and plum sake. If your in the mood for some real specialty food and drinks you can slide on down to Cultured’s south tap room where they serve great kombucha, fresh pressed juices an Kava also depending on when you go there might be food there. Since the recent pandemic they have just opened up an open air market to include companies such as Wundergrubs, Juiced up, Free foods and Nubian Hue Non Brew. Stone Mountain park is always a great adventure to go if your interested in hiking a little bit however Panola Mountain is my favorite because you can hike, visit the museum and rent bikes to ride the trail.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout out Aja Embry for all of her hard work and dedication. Her commitment as a farmers market manager is outstanding. She is supportive, kind, and determined to see small business’s such as mine have a platform to put great products in the hands of consumers. She is the farmers market catalyst to success
