Meet Danielle Monae’: Fashion Designer and Visionary

We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Monae’ and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, what do you want people to remember about you?
There are many things that I would like to be remembered for. The most important to me, would be my ambition, love, and faith. When people think of me I want them to think of a woman with a good heart and loving spirit. My ultimate goal, is to be a light to as many people as possible and to add value and joy to every relationship that I encounter. In the future, I pray that my designs will transcend time and leave a monumental mark on people’s lives and in the fashion world. As long as I’ve inspired at least one person to chase their dreams or believe in God, then I feel as though my legacy has been fulfilled.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets my business apart from others is the fact that it gives women an outlet to create their own custom piece(s). I offer the option of doing a consultation, coming to the fabric store, and helping them draft their own custom look. I try to make it into an experience. My goal is to make all of my clients feel confident and beautiful.
Starting my business was far from easy. The key to being successful in anything you do is staying consistent. I attribute my growing business to God, good customer service, quality pieces, practice, and patience. Along the way, I’ve learned to extend myself more grace. I used to let everything get to me and stress me out when something didn’t go as planned. Nowadays, I do what I can and what I can’t handle I give to God. You have to learn to trust yourself and your talents because if you don’t, then who will? I think it’s very important to be kind to yourself and acknowledge your wins, no matter how small. I want the world to know that Draped by Danielle Monae’ is dedicated to evolving and making its mark on the fashion industry.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My top five must-visit places in Atlanta are Botanical Gardens, Oak Nightclub on a Sunday, Ponce City Market Rooftop, Garden Room Bar, and American Deli on the east side. I feel like all of these places embody the beauty and the true culture of Atlanta. Which is fun, vibrant, boujee, and a smidgen of ratchet.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to my family, friends, and clients for the continual support. Rather it’s supporting me at a show, sending an encouraging message, or entrusting me to create a beautiful piece, it truly means the world to me. I’m so blessed to have such a great support system.
