We had the good fortune of connecting with Anthony Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anthony, why did you pursue a creative career?
I ALWAYS knew that I was creative even from my first memory of childhood; from designing my niece’s hair and her doll’s hair to creating cheers and dance routines. I’ve never wanted to be caged or in a box, so choosing a career that allowed me to be FREE, to be ME was the only way to go!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve always had a love and passion for hairstyling but also making people feel good, I have the pleasure and honor of doing this every day of my life, and it doesn’t feel like work whether a client is in my styling chair for a hair service or on my table receiving a facial or massage. What makes me a GEM(as I’ve been called) is that I’m a ONE STOP man, I can get you right together from head to toe! I’ve been in the beauty/spa industry for nearly 30 years. Was it easy getting here? Heck no, do I love it and would I have done things differently, if I could have a do over? ABSOLUTELY!!!! I’ve given so much to people that were ungrateful, unappreciative and nearly lost myself trying to be a people pleaser and not really focusing on the brand that I’ve worked so hard to build and create. For those that really want something so bad they feel it in their bones or can just taste it; work hard, grind harder, learn ALL you can and DON’T give up NOR accept NO until you get what you want or to where you want to be……
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d first like to take my bestie to some of my favorite eateries in the Midtown area. Maybe hop into a lounge or two for some easy listening music and maybe dance a little bit. I’d like to take her to some of the art galleries and museums that I myself haven’t visited. To end our time together I’d pull her into a memorable event that she could have a keepsake to take home like going to a Sip & Paint or pottery, etc…. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

I have had the pleasure of knowing the “Gem” Anthony Kyle for more than 30 years and he is truly a gem in its rarest form! His talents are amazing. I could write a book about him but I’ll leave that to him, since he’s an author too!
