Meet Thesa Long | Healthy Hair Care Regime Specialist/Salon Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Thesa Long and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Thesa, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was never just about doing hair. It was about creating an environment where women could receive personalized care, professional expertise, and a healthy hair care experience built on consistency, intentional care, and a personalized healthy hair care regime.
After spending more than 30 years in the beauty industry, I realized I wanted the freedom to serve clients in a way that aligned with my values and vision. I wanted to create a space where healthy hair was the priority, relationships mattered, and every client felt seen, heard, and cared for.
I’ve always been passionate about helping women look and feel their best, but I also wanted to educate them on how to achieve and maintain healthy hair through consistency, professional guidance, and a customized healthy hair care regime designed for their lifestyle and goals. Over time, that passion evolved into what is now The Salon G.
Building a business has required faith, perseverance, and a commitment to continuous growth. While the journey has certainly come with challenges, it has also been incredibly rewarding. Today, The Salon G is more than a salon. It is a luxury healthy hair care experience where women receive personalized care, professional expertise, and a customized regime designed to support the long term health and beauty of their hair.

What should our readers know about your business?
Oh my, tell you more about my business. My business is such a labor of love for me.
What sets The Salon G apart is the experience we provide and the relationships we build. We have created a professional, welcoming environment where our clients feel valued, cared for, and appreciated. We focus on healthy hair care, attention to detail, and creating an experience that goes beyond the salon chair. We do not just do hair. We educate, encourage, pamper, and support our clients throughout their healthy hair journey. We pour love into every client who walks through our doors, and I believe that is something people can genuinely feel when they visit us.
What I am most proud of is the trust my clients have placed in me over the years and the lasting relationships that have been built through serving multiple generations of women and their families as well as The salon collective we have built. Many of my clients have been with me since the very beginning of my career. I have had the privilege of walking alongside them through different seasons of their lives, and they have done the same with me. Some of my day one clients knew me before I got married. They have been with me through my marriage, the birth of all three of my children, and the journey of raising my family while building my business. They watched my children grow from babies into successful adults, graduate from college, and begin their own journeys. My clients have celebrated life’s milestones with me just as I have celebrated many of theirs.
Getting to where I am today was not easy. Building a business comes with challenges, sacrifices, and seasons of uncertainty. One of the greatest challenges I faced was having to start over and rebuild. There was a season when I had to trust God completely and rebuild my business from the ground up. Looking back, what felt like a setback at the time was actually preparation for something greater. In 2015, The Salon G was born, and over time God blessed me with an amazing team and incredible clients who continue to support and encourage me.
One of the greatest lessons I have learned is to keep going. Life will always present challenges and obstacles, but you have to keep pushing through, keep honing your craft, keep evolving, and continue becoming a better version of yourself. I have learned that growth requires faith, consistency, and a willingness to embrace change. I believe it is important to keep offering your gift to others because your gift will make room for you. I also believe that God has gifted my hands and anointed my life to do exactly what I am doing. Through every season, my faith, my family, and my clients have encouraged me to keep moving forward and continue pursuing the vision God placed in my heart.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that healthy hair care is my passion, but people are my purpose. My mission is to help women understand that healthy hair is not achieved through a single appointment, but through consistency, intentional care and a customize hair care regime that supports their individual needs and goals. Today, The Salon G is more than a salon. It is a community. It is a place where people are welcomed, valued, cared for, and encouraged. My clients often start out as clients, but over time they become like family. While I love helping women achieve healthy, beautiful hair, the relationships I have built over the years are one of the greatest blessings of my career. My hope is that every person who walks through our doors leaves feeling better than when they arrived and knows they have found a place where they truly belong.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting, I would definitely want to create a fun and memorable experience. We would probably start with a great meal because I love good food, great service, and meaningful conversation. I tend to enjoy fine dining experiences where the atmosphere is just as enjoyable as the food. One of my favorite places has been Rays on the River because it offers beautiful views, excellent food, and an overall experience that feels special.
From there, we might visit an escape room because I enjoy activities that are interactive, engaging, and bring people together. I also enjoy Flight Club, which my brother introduced me to. It is a fun atmosphere where you can enjoy good food, laughter, and a little friendly competition.
Depending on the day, we might spend some time at Avalon or Atlantic Station. I enjoy being able to walk around, shop, and simply enjoy the experience without feeling rushed.
For a little relaxation and self care, I would absolutely include a visit to Woodhouse Spa. As someone who spends a great deal of time serving others, I appreciate opportunities to slow down, recharge, and enjoy a little pampering myself.
More than anything, I enjoy spending quality time with family and friends. Whether we are enjoying a great meal, relaxing at the spa, shopping, or simply spending time together, those moments of connection are what make an experience truly special. For me, it is less about the destination and more about creating meaningful memories with the people I love.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
If I could dedicate this shoutout to anyone, it would be my family, especially my husband and children. They have supported me throughout my journey as a hairstylist, business owner, wife, and mother.
Building a business requires sacrifice, long hours, and a great deal of perseverance, and I would not be where I am today without their love, encouragement, and understanding. Through every season of growth, challenge, and transition, they have remained my biggest supporters.
I am also grateful for the clients who have trusted me with their hair care journey over the years. Their loyalty and support have allowed me to do what I love while continuing to grow both personally and professionally.
Success is never achieved alone, and I am truly thankful for the people who have believed in me, encouraged me, and walked alongside me throughout this journey.
