Meet Scherrie King

We had the good fortune of connecting with Scherrie King and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Scherrie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
As a teen with stage 2 – 3 acne. It was awful listening to comments about my skin. The most memorable was a classmate who described my appearance as “you can play connect the dots”. As horrible as it sounded, he was right.

My family wasn’t wealthy. So drugstore over the counter treatment was Noxzema. Later, Ambi, a miracle cream. Designed to clear darker Fitzpatrick Scale hyperpigmented skin.

Those fortunate enough to visit a Dermatologist. Appeared as every consult was prescribed the same cream or gel.

Of course nothing was working for me. So daily application of foundation became my go to. Not understanding I was making matters worst. My frustration lead to my determination of understanding the function of skin.

Now that I’m makeup free. I love helping others become more aware of goal-oriented skin regiment.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Spa Crystels is the “Mom and Pop” of the industry. While protocols, products and equipment are always being updated. Affordability, education, sanitation and safety regulations have always been of top priority for all guests.

Although obtaining my licenses in stages took longer. I was able to better focus on theory and clinical experience within each scope of practice.

The rush to be on my own lead to abruptly closing my first year. Infuriating the owner of the property to lay into me with harsh dismay. Almost led me to throw in the towel. When I remembered hearing harsh comments all of my life. Accept the loss, start where I’m at and move forward. I haven’t looked back since.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Watching The Tar Heel Traveler and CBS Weekend’s makes planning for events easy.

Being a morning and summer baby. I’d love breakfast and early activities. I’d schedule a combo week in conjunction to their liking. With eateries being most important. Some site seeing, history and popular things to do in whatever area we’re going.

I also set up my corridor and home to match the theme. Taking pics are key to sharing memories throughout the years. An evening of Virtual to include someone who couldn’t make it. Always add to the fun.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Favor, so many obstacles blocked my path. Staying determined to succeed and geared for success. Let’s me provide best sessions for all clientele.

Fred and Yvonne Massingale, my sister and brother in law who always encouraged and believed my goals would be achieved.

My children, Jahmal, Crystal, Tyre and Tyrell and my Grands. Gregory Jr, Rashon C, Zahmari, Zahlai and Khrome. Keep your faith. Get back up no matter how hard the fall.

Norman “Care God” Smith who saw early on reading was my outlet to obtain knowledge.
