We had the good fortune of connecting with Netta Pope and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Netta, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
I don’t quit acting just because it’s slow, or
I don’t get a callback from the 100 auditions I I’ve done. I check myself first.
Do I still love it, even when I’m not booking?
Am I getting better with each audition?
Am I just tired… or actually over it?
If I’d regret walking away, I keep going.
If I’m forcing it and it doesn’t excite me anymore, I step back or shift my approach, I don’t just give up completely.
This industry is tough and it takes many no’s to get that yes. You have to keep going because you never know when that ‘yes’ will be the one to change everything.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I take pride in the fact that I got to where I am by simply being passionate. I was given the first opportunity but everything there after, I went and made it happen. I did my research and found the resources. I’m still very new to the game, even 6 years later. This industry has so many things to know and to learn and it takes dedication. I’ve moved states all by myself to be closer to those opportunities. I’ve spent my last dime on headshots, traveling, casting sites, etc because it means that much to me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I absolutely love Korea Town and China Town. I eat there often and it’s always delicious. I love the LA zoo. Animals are my favorite. I could go there every day. I also love a little shopping so maybe stopping at the outlets or galleria!
Can’t miss out on Magic Mountain ugh my favorite!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely give props to my high school friend Alanna Tremblay. She started acting way before I even knew I wanted to do it. She’s on Netflix, Hulu, etc.
She heard I wanted to act, and immediately gave me an opportunity when it came about. Ever since, I’ve been in the game!
