We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaime Guevara and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaime, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my own business was not originally part of my academic plan. After earning my degree in Biological Sciences, I intended to pursue dental school alongside my daughter. However, when my wife became temporarily disabled and unable to work, the financial reality of supporting our household changed significantly.

I began applying for jobs in my field, but the compensation offered was not enough to sustain my family during such a critical period. At that point, I evaluated the skills I already had. Before and during college, I had experience in maintenance, construction, and housing-related work. I realized that those hands-on skills could generate more immediate and sustainable income.

The decision to start Peach Handyman Services was not driven by convenience; it was driven by responsibility. I needed flexibility, higher earning potential, and control over my time so I could support my daughter through dental school and maintain stability for my family.

Entrepreneurship became a solution born out of necessity — but it also revealed strengths I did not fully recognize before: discipline, client service, and long-term business thinking.

What should our readers know about your business?
Peach Handyman Services was built out of necessity, but it has grown into something much more meaningful. When my wife was temporarily unable to work, I had to find a way to support my family quickly and reliably. Traditional job opportunities in my field were not enough to meet that need, so I turned to the hands-on skills I had developed over the years in maintenance, construction, and home repairs.

What sets my business apart is not just the work itself, but the values behind it. I focus on honesty, reliability, and treating every home with care and respect. I understand that when someone invites you into their home, they are placing trust in you, and I take that responsibility seriously.

The journey was not easy. Starting from the ground up meant long days, uncertainty, and learning through experience. I had to build my reputation one customer at a time. The trust of my early clients played a huge role in helping me grow and gain confidence in what I do.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that consistency, discipline, and genuine care for people will always stand out. Success is not only about skills, but about how you treat others and how dependable you are.

What I want people to know about my brand is that it is built on responsibility, faith, and commitment to doing things the right way. This business represents more than just work—it represents providing for my family, creating stability, and serving others with integrity.

This journey also inspired me to write my book, Bridges of Dreams: A Journey of Hope and Triumph in New Lands, where I share my personal story, challenges, and the path that led me to build a new life with purpose and determination.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a close friend were visiting, I would want them to experience both the energy of Atlanta and the more relaxed side of living just outside the city.

We would spend some time in Atlanta exploring areas like downtown, walking around Centennial Olympic Park, and visiting places like the Georgia Aquarium or the World of Coca-Cola. It’s a great way to experience the heart of the city.

At the same time, I would bring them back to where I live in Conyers, Georgia, in Rockdale County. I enjoy the quieter environment here—it offers a slower pace and a strong sense of community that you don’t always find in the city.

We would also enjoy local restaurants and simple moments, because to me, the best experiences are not just about popular places, but about the people and the atmosphere.

What I appreciate most about this area is the balance—you have access to a major city like Atlanta, but you can still come home to a more peaceful and grounded environment. That balance is what makes it special to me.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout first and foremost to my Heavenly Father, whose guidance, strength, and grace have carried me through every challenge in my life. My faith has been the foundation that kept me moving forward, especially during difficult times.

I want to give special recognition to my wife, Fortu Guevara, who has been my main support since we came to the United States. From the beginning, we have worked together continuously to build our life and support our family.

Throughout the years, she has worked full-time while we faced the responsibilities and challenges of providing for our household. When I was pursuing my degree in Biological Sciences, she continued working full-time while I studied and worked part-time to complete my education. Her effort and commitment played a critical role in helping me reach that goal.

She has also been a key part of my personal journey and the creation of my book. While I was writing, she supported me emotionally, encouraged me to continue, and carried many responsibilities at home so I could dedicate time to sharing my story. Her strength, sacrifice, and belief in me have been constant and invaluable.

I also want to thank my children, Lila and Nefi Guevara. They are my greatest accomplishment, and I admire and love them deeply. They have been a strong motivation in my life, and everything I do is with the intention of building a better future for them.

I want to thank my father, Máximo Guevara, who planted the seed of knowledge in my life and led by example through hard work, discipline, and education. His influence helped shape who I am today.

I also want to thank my mother, Gumercinda Bocanegra de Guevara, for her strength, values, and constant encouragement. Her love and determination have always inspired me to do my best and move forward in life.

I also want to recognize the people who trusted me early on—my first customers. Their trust gave me the opportunity to grow and build my business step by step.

This journey has been built on faith, family, sacrifice, and support, and I am truly grateful for all of it.
