We had the good fortune of connecting with Lilian Paz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lilian, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I arrived in the United States in 2007, and that’s when I learned the cleaning business from my parents, who already had a regular schedule of clients. They taught me everything I know about the work.

In 2008, on my birthday, a friend moved back to Brazil and trusted me with her schedule of houses. That moment marked the beginning of my journey working for myself. At the time, everything was very informal, and I didn’t see it as a business, just a way to earn money.

Over time, that path grew, and what started in a simple way became the foundation of what is now Butterfly Cleaning.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Butterfly Cleaning was built from hands-on experience, faith, and a strong commitment to quality and integrity. I started in this industry working informally, cleaning homes on my own, and over time I realized I wanted to build something bigger — a company that would truly care for people, not just their homes.

What sets us apart is the heart behind our work. We believe that a clean and organized home brings peace, well-being, and relief to our clients’ lives. We pay close attention to details, communicate honestly, and treat every home with respect, as if it were our own.

The journey was not easy. One of my biggest challenges was transitioning from working alone to building and leading a team. Through mentorship, faith, and a shift in mindset, I learned the importance of leadership, structure, and trust.

Today, Butterfly Cleaning operates with trained teams, clear processes, and a strong culture rooted in honesty, responsibility, and care. What I want the world to know is that our brand is about more than cleaning — it’s about transformation, trust, and serving others with excellence.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a close friend were visiting Atlanta, I would show them both the calm and vibrant sides of the city. I’d take them to the Atlanta BeltLine, Piedmont Park, Ponce City Market, and also to Helen and Stone Mountain to enjoy nature and beautiful views.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank God for guiding my steps and giving me strength throughout this journey.

I am deeply grateful to my mother and to my late father, whose values and example continue to guide my life. I am also thankful for my husband for his constant support, and for my team and clients for their trust and dedication.
