Meet Adrian Morris | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Adrian Morris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adrian, why did you pursue a creative career?
I am currently pursuing a career as an artist to entertain, inspire, and ultimately glorify Jesus Christ through awesome art and comics. Since I was a kid I’ve always enjoyed watching cartoons like Avatar the Last Airbender, reading comics like Dragon Ball Z and playing video games like The Legend of Zelda. I’ve always wanted to create my own stories for people to enjoy and take people on grand adventures like the many cartoons I watched and comics I read. I want to encourage people and give hope through the stories and art I create and inspire others to do the same.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am teaching and sharing my knowledge of drawing on YouTube to help people who just started drawing. As I create my own art and comics, I want to share what I know with my audience so that they can do what I am doing. One day I hope that my great grandchildren will read what I create! Inspired by Japanese manga and animation, American comics and cartoons, and all kinds of video games, I am most excited to share my stories with the world. I am currently writing an illustrated novel to practice my writing and drawing skills. Currently it’s called Omari of Starfall and it’s set in a medieval fantasy setting. I’ve always enjoyed medieval fantasy entertainment in the form of videogames and animation, but I hardly saw characters that looked like me. So I am drawing characters that do. Also, I hope to convey biblical principles and messages in the stories I write. That’s the hardest thing for me right now. I often ask, how can I write this story so that it entertains people but doesn’t glorify demonic things. Specifically, I don’t like the theme in Japanese manga that a person can gain power and get stronger by obtaining demonic power. To overcome that, I am writing from the perspective of a believer in Jesus Christ and doing my best to write an entertaining story.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my favorite spots is the Georgia Aquarium. You get to see marine life up close and personal, If you’ve never been its awesome. There’s plenty to do and see. You just gotta be prepared because it gets packed in there. A restaurant I’d recommend is the Hard Rock Café. I’ve been a few times and I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The burgers are really good! Lastly as an artist, we gotta check out the Georgia Museum of Art. I love art in all its forms and its the perfect place to enjoy the works of awesome artists.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I gotta shout out Jesus, my parents, and my younger siblings: Amari, Alijah, and Ajanee’ for believing in me and the work that I do. Also, I want to thank the people who enjoy the content I create online and continue to create. I will continue to do my best everyday to do what I was put on earth to do, and serve people with the gifts God has given me. It feels like I’m just getting started, so thank you to everyone who is helping me on this journey.
