We had the good fortune of connecting with Delva Michel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Delva, every day, we know how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
After years of working and gigging as a musician, I’ve spent plenty of time rehearsing in subpar studios. I realized that the problem usually came down to two things: either productions were trying to save money by booking cheaper, low-quality spaces, or the few decent studios available were priced out of reach. That’s what sparked the idea — to create a space where every musician can feel like they’re truly on stage, not just stuck in a room with a couple of pieces of equipment. And as the creative scene has evolved, I wanted to expand that same philosophy to podcasters, too. Just like musicians, podcasters need a professional yet accessible space to capture their voice and connect with an audience — without having to battle poor acoustics, unreliable gear, or overpriced studios. So, Prep & Shed was built to serve both: a high-quality, affordable hub for musicians and podcasters to create and thrive.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The rehearsal space and studio business may be niche, but that also means there’s room to stand out. What sets us apart is that this business was built with a clear purpose: to truly fill the void and address the lack of high-quality, accessible rehearsal spaces in the area. Our mission is to provide a creative environment where preparation meets inspiration — a space that helps artists bring their music to life.

Starting any business from the ground up is never easy, but I’m genuinely excited about what we’ve already accomplished together and even more excited about where we’re headed. My personal motto is to never give up — no matter what you’re working toward. Along the way, I’ve learned that educating yourself, networking, and speaking up are powerful tools. There is always someone out there willing to help or share knowledge if you’re open to it.

What I’m most proud of is knowing that every person who walks through our doors will feel proud of what we’ve built for them.

As for my story, it began in a small town in Haiti — and it’s still being written. And when it comes to the brand, I want the world to know that it’s one created by musicians, for musicians.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting for a week, we’d definitely start at Prep & Shed so they could see where all the creativity happens. After that, I’d want to give them a real taste of Marietta and the surrounding area.

We’d spend some time at Marietta Square — it’s full of charm with unique shops, local art galleries, and the weekend farmers market. A ride to see the quirky landmark you can’t miss-The Big Chicken! This 56-foot steel chicken that towers over the intersection of Cobb Pkwy and Roswell RdAnother day, we’d explore Ponce City Market in Atlanta — it’s great for shopping, rooftop views, and amazing food stalls.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Throughout my journey, there are countless people, groups, and organizations I could shout out, but there isn’t enough space to name them all. So collectively, I want to recognize everyone who has played a role in my creative career — from my business partners and creative collaborators to my brother, Castel Michel, who first inspired my love for music and set me on this path. I also want to give a special shoutout to Stanley Jean and Frantz Dorcin for their incredible contributions to building out the studio.”
