We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Hashonah Lockette and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Hashonah, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
Born and raised in New York city has helped me to be able to connect with people from all walks of like because of its rich tapestry of cultures and background. I was inspired to be connected to people to find a way to add value to their lives. It was then I knew “helping people” would be a long-life passion for me.

What should our readers know about your business?
My journey began after finishing undergradute work from Marymount Manhattan College in New York City, I landed a 20 year career in healthcare, working to improve medical and mental health disparities in underserved communities.

This fueled a deeper calling—to advance my work to help individuals heal from a holistic perspective, to include the mind and spirit. In pursuit of this mission, I obtained a Master of Arts in Christian Education (MACE), and a doctorate in Christian Counseling from James Dussault School of Theology in Columbia, South Carolina.

Having a profound understanding of the clinical side of counseling, along with a theological understanding of life’s challenges and perplexities has been a game-changer. I am able to integrate faith-based wisdom to help individuals break free from limitations and step into their God-given destiny. My philosophy is simple yet powerful: true healing begins with faith in one’s self and true success is measured by the challenges we overcome with God’s guidance.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take them to a few of my favorite hangouts:

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout is to my rich heritage who deserves recognition in this story. It has grounded me in a strong sense of identity with values that guided me through most of the important decision making in my life. My family has always encouraged me to be the best version of myself and to follow my dreams to the end.
