We had the good fortune of connecting with Marden Headley Art and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marden, what matters most to you?
Teaching the fundamentals in composition. Learning to “see” is a practiced skill set. Building enthusiasm for the craft itself begins with passion and confidence. If I can give a student the confidence in knowing the 7 tenants of design, then their enthusiasm will grow. They in turn will master the art of dedicating the time to become a better painter. God first, family second, I have always held to the principle of making the world a more beautiful place. The way we do anything, is the way we do everything. When I worship, love parent, paint, or teach, I hold to a higher standard . Trusting the rules throughout this process, builds my faith in life, work and people.

Pride / excitement.

After years raising kids, and being an instructor, the pride and excitement I have comes from seeing my commissioned work hanging in beautiful homes in the low country.
This journey was not an easy one. Although I am classically trained, as an artist, and professional educator- I had a lot of joy raising my family. Now I have the time to focus on my craft.

Having learned to trust my initial vision and never overwork a piece, I see beauty all around me. Whether it is colors, landscapes, good design, or the souls of individuals…I do my very best to capture the them in my paintings, in a way that is truly representative of the vision.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
