Meet Alexandria Denise

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexandria Denise and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexandria, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born and raised in Memphis, TN. The baby of two children so having a brother five years older than me and there were other kids around I couldn’t relate to so I was alone most of my childhood. Our neighborhood was kind of suburban and pretty peaceful with a lake and woodlands. In the 90’s and early 2000s, I would play in the woods and walk to the lake to fish– mainly find sanctuary in nature. Interestingly enough, I found peace and life lessons just being in the natural world observing true life and my interest in nature documentaries growing up enhanced that understanding and connection. Fast forwarding today, that has transformed into more of a spiritual perspective with God, the creator. Through his creation, I’ve come to the realization that my separation from others was meant for one of the purposes I serve today. Reconnecting people to TRUE Nature and therefore TRUE life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
True Nature aims to reconnect people to the natural world through the means of self- sufficiency. Whether it’s through hunting, fishing, gardening, homesteading or other ways, its about breaking the chains of this domesticated life we’ve been conditioned to pour into and that keeps people totally dependent on mega corps and government.
My daddy introduced me to fishing at a young age and when he passed, my mama found it hard to make ends meet. Many hungry days and waiting on government assistance only to get crumbs. Church donations and help from friends, family and neighbors was limited. A lot of unreliable sources. I was in my preteens when I finally caught my first fish- a bream- that I took home to cook. It was then I experienced the power behind the saying “If you TEACH a person to fish they’ll eat for a LIFETIME.” The skills I gain no one can take. Hunting always felt instinctual but I didn’t get to pursue it until I moved to GA in 2016 but I had prior experience finding deer just playing in the woods as a kid. Edible Gardening, to be specific, was the weaker of the two links but I refined my knowledge in that.
I have another love outside of nature which is acting that I stepped into the later years of high school. I ended up graduating from Tennessee State University in Nashville with a B.A in Speech Communications and Theater. Now with over 15 years of experience pursuing acting and working in film industry from time to time, I put those skills to use on my channel where I’m basically all of the creative hands. I’m the talent, director, cameraman, producer, editor, marketer and everything that goes into process of video and film making. I film my adventures to share my experience and knowledge in hopes of encouraging other to learn about, appreciate and protect the natural world and order. God provided it for ALL of us to sow into and reap from not for one entity to dictate for profit.
They separate us from nature then sell us the idea of it. I experienced much misinformation about the natural order through my short time as a vegan. None of which sat right with my spirit because I practically grew up in nature to understand the balance and order. I started my YouTube channel True Nature in 2019 for that reason and a few others in between. It was challenging figuring out how I wanted it to go but I had a strong urge to just get it going. That this was something I needed to do. 2023 during my hard days of trucking, ideas were pouring in left and right on how I should run this. Now in 2025, the timing couldn’t have been more perfect to bring awareness to the importance of providing for ourselves and uniting as a people and protect the planet that makes life possible. As our ancestors once understood, you take from the nature you give back. I want as many people as possible to feel the freedom and power these skills and knowledge can bring.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The universe has a strange way of connecting kindred spirits so a lot of times, the people I meet are already into the same things so that breaks the ice for showing them some of my favorite nature trails such as Arabia Mountain, Panola Mountain, Clybel WMA and a few others. They have archery ranges, trails, beautiful sights, lakes and other spots you can really immerse yourself into nature. Even some spaces in between.
I still enjoy a portion of city life, so for my city peeps, some shopping malls and since I’m kind of a food fanatic with more emphases on healthy, natural, foreign/exotic dishes, I highly suggest Dekalb Farmer’s Market and The Deer & Dove which are both east of Atlanta. The farmer’s market highlights foods/ cuisines of other countries and much of what they have is made fresh. I get some of the foods I can’t produce myself from there with confidence in knowing I’m getting good quality ingredients. No matter what diet you follow there is seriously something for everyone but I suggest going during a weekday.
The Deer & Dove is a fine dining restaurant where you can get a taste of game meats such as venison (deer), pheasant, other delicacies that focus on slow foods and farm fresh ingredients. The game is farm- raised NOT wild due to laws around the selling of wild game meats but you get to experience it. A lot of great stuff on the menu but I believe it changes by the season. If you get meat straight from the wild because you source it yourself, I have a second channel True Nature’s Kitchen where I post recipes featuring some of my favorite dishes and how to process and cook game. Right now, it focuses on low carb diet because that’s primarily how I eat but I will have a “lil sum’n” for everybody even if its showing how to make a healthier version. Eventually I get to some traditional indigenous dishes as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ve had many doubts and moments of uncertain situations so first and foremost defiantly God for protecting and guiding me throughout this journey.
Shoutout to my parents and grandparents growing up and hand full of amazing long time friends that keep me grounded to this day.
