Meet Eric Mendoza | Dental Assistant & Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Eric Mendoza and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eric, how do you think about risk?
Taking a risk builds confidence & character. I remember I use to be scared of taking a risk and letting my fears get to me. You’ll never know what the outcome is if you don’t take the risk and do it. That goes for anything you want to do in life. I love to encourage my friends to stop being scared and take the risk! What’s the worst that can happen? You get back up and keep going forward in life. I took the risk to go back to school at 26. I currently work 2 jobs and do content creation while being in college. My life is busy but I’m willing to take the risk and grind right now for a better future. If you’re not willing to a risk for a better life than you don’t want it bad enough.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a full time Dental Assistant. I’ve been working in this field for 8 years. I took a dental assistant course after high school. I enjoy working in the pediatric dental field. I love it when my patients tell me how their day went. Also I am a content creator, I love to do lifestyle and comedy content. Being a content creator isn’t easy, you can get discouraged if you don’t see that your views/engagement is doing well. And then you start to compare yourself to others. I love to pick up my phone and record, it comes naturally to me. I can be my fun self and a lot of people can relate to me. I’ve always been an open book. So why not get paid for what I love to do, and that’s create content. My proudest moment of my content creation journey was in Ralph Lauren sent me their PR package. I grew up wearing this brand & to work with this brand is a dream. My mom couldn’t believe it, she’s very proud of me. Post the content, you never know who’s watching! Take the risk and have fun with it! I would love for the world to know about me is that to inspire others to be themselves & stop caring what people have to say. Have fun, life is the most beautiful gift you can receive. Just do it, follow your dreams. Surround yourself with people that inspire you.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my friend to walk the Beltline & visit Ponce City Market. They have a delicious Puerto rican restaurant called El Super Pan. I literally feel like I’m back in Puerto Rico when I eat there! We would order a mofongo & a frozen piña colada with a side of tostones. Then we would shop inside Ponce City Market. Also I would take my friend to the rooftop and see the beautiful city and try the activities they have. And for the night life we would go to Blake’s, party it up & then head to sanctuary & finally end our night a club future! Also for another day we would go to the Battery. They have this place called battle and brew, they have lots of old school video games and we can sip on. Beer & play nostalgic games. We would also try Rrealtacos. They have the best margaritas in town. I’ve taken so many friends there and dates. They loved it. They have cute decors for every holiday.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When I first started getting into social media in high school I stumbled across @officialdiydan instagram page. I fell in love with his street style and aesthetic. Some of my fashion wear is inspired by him. I was confused on what I should style in my closet and where I should buy clothes from. And he makes any simple outfit stand out. I love his style.
