Meet Tyler Edwards

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Edwards and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tyler, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My great-grandmother, Delsie Ann Dobbs, born in 1924, was a major inspiration behind my decision to start my business. While I was serving in the United States Air Force, she became ill. Due to COVID restrictions and Air Force policies, I was told that she was not considered close enough in kin, meaning I couldn’t visit her in her final days. I took that personally because she played a significant role in my life.
I wanted to show the Air Force—and the world—just how important she truly was. So, I decided to honor her by creating something that would keep her name alive and visible to others. That’s how Delce 1924 was born. (I changed the spelling to make it a universal name for both men and women.)
She was born on March 14, 1924, I joined the military on March 14, 2017, and I released my first collection of shirts on March 14, 2022, at 19:24—crazy, right?
The logo for my brand is a rose because my great-grandmother spent most of her time in the garden. During the summers, I would go with her and help her work. She grew many things, but the one thing that stood out the most was her roses. Not only does the rose represent what she planted, but I believe it also symbolizes the life she lived and the seeds she planted in the lives of others.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What truly sets my business apart is the purpose behind my brand. Delce 1924 isn’t just apparel—it’s a lifestyle showcased through clothing. My great-grandmother embodied strength and courage, and I want everyone who wears the Delce 1924 name to carry that same spirit with them.
One of the most rewarding moments for me is seeing people proudly wearing my grandmother’s name. It has been seen all across social media, and even made an appearance in one of Country Wayne’s videos on Facebook—which was a pretty cool moment!
Along this journey, one of the most important lessons I’ve learned is to believe in yourself. You have to trust your vision and know that you are capable of achieving anything. Not everyone will believe in you, and that’s okay. What matters is that you believe in yourself first.
Even when others doubt you, keep pushing forward—because when you stay committed to your vision, you won’t just prove them wrong, you’ll make them believers.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
All of my family and friends come from a small, rural area in Mississippi, so whenever they visit, I love showing them the energy and motivation that Atlanta brings.
When friends are in town, I always check to see if there’s a concert or sporting event happening that week. I also make sure to take them to a rooftop bar—something we don’t have back home—like Tesserae or Sky lounge, which is a great way to experience the city from a whole new perspective.
Another must-do is the Belt Line, where we hit up different spots and explore the culture of the city. If their visit happens to fall on the first Friday of the month, I always take them to High Frequency Friday at the High Museum—one of my favorite experiences.
When it comes to nightlife, I take them to spots like Suite Food Lounge, Harold’s Chicken and Ice Bar, and other great places to enjoy the city vibe at night.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would truly like to give thanks to God, my wife, my daughter, my mom, my grandmother, and my siblings for their unwavering support throughout my journey. They helped take this idea from just a concept and turn it into reality. Their love, encouragement, and beliefs in me played a huge role in the success of my brand.
I am truly blessed to have a phenomenal group of women around me—strong, intelligent, and incredibly talented. Without them, I honestly don’t know where I would be. Their wisdom and support continue to inspire me every day.
