We had the good fortune of connecting with De’andre Ray Barlow and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi De’Andre Ray, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I decided to become a writer to be able to utilize book writing as another way to spread my ways of positivity. With so much negativity being popularized I feel that it is and been time for those with a leader type influence to motivate others to move in the right direction one way or another through the gifts we may have.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What I feel sets me apart from other book writers is that I am setting up a way for those of my society who don’t like to read a lot catch positive, motivating, and innovating thoughts to help better their livelihood. My main way of doing this is through very short and to the point books. No long drug out elaborated points. Just simple mindful short books. I feel most of us don’t need all the pages to captivate a perspective. Especially when a person already made the decision to want helpful perspectives to be better and think better. Thus far I’m most proud that I have published 4 books within 2 months. I was also already invited to a few book conventions. Which motivated me even more. I’m not even warmed up yet!! What brought me to this point to become a writer was me just thinking of something new I would like to do. I also became very fund of books over the years. They have expound my ways of thinking tremendously. Things in my opinon aren’t difficult to start. For me I’m a doer. I think of something and right after I get to it. I do feel what is difficult for many is consistency. Me personally everything I do I feel there is nothing else for me to do but what I’m doing. So that’s simply how I press onward. One main lesson I’ve learned through my 33 years of living is to take action and not procrastinate. I see that as putting myself on hold. And who’s more important in ones life than self. What I want the world to know about me is to not ever count me out and even if the world go against me I’m willing to keep pressing forward for the most fulfilling, regretless , and peaceful life I can obtain. I want the world to take from my life story is that what ever you want to become in life you can by just putting in the work and making things happen.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Aw man I am all through Atlanta. First I would take them to my favorite burger spot called The Vortex. I like their hot wings too. They have a suace called Atomic Death Sauce. They are extremely hot yet flavorful. Then I would take them to an Atlanta historical spot to enjoy some good skating and show them how we be styling and profiling here on a Sunday night. Then from there I would take them to my quick peaceful get away where I like to gather my thoughts called The Indian Trail. It runs on the Chattahoochee River. It’s very grounding for me. Then I would take em downtown to catch the best place to catch a movie called IPIC Movie Theatre. The echelon there is everything . They serve great foods while watching a movie in very comfortable seats. They even give complementary blankets. They also serve alcoholic beverages. Last but not least I would take them to Blue Flame Strip Club. Everyone always speaks of Magic City Strip Club but Blue Flame my favorite. Or we might go to both. After a night there they will be ready to leave and get their energy back home Hahaa.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would first like to start of shouting out my loving beautiful diva of a woman mother, Tonya Lexus Barlow. Even in the time that i tried to push her away she pulled me in even closer with unconditional love. I could not ever repay her but only through my daily acts of honoring her with my gifts I have to the world and my gentleman like character. I appreciate her so much. I also want to shout out my uncles Daryl Brown and Sylvester Lawson for helping me see how real thorough bred men operate. Major shouts out to my cousin Ameer Nelson. In some of my worst times he supported me. I can’t ever forget that. Major shouts out to Al my friends. All positive and striving in their own way. Too many to name them all. Every one I’ve ever encountered are owed recognition because everyone I learn from.
