Meet Mallah Windom | Herbalist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mallah Windom and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mallah, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Our business is helpful in countless ways. Our approach to wellness is rooted in education, centered around all natural medicinal ingredients and focused on providing nourishment and healing relief. We recognize the skin as our largest organ and first line of defense for our internal bodies. To that end we manufacture and offer a product called Healing Butter. This product has the ability to mitigate some of the toxins and metals we deal with through our water supply and provide healing protection from the ever increasing heat of our sun. As we all navigate a world that continues to put health and wellness further from our reach we recognize an opportunity to change course. We vigilantly source ingredients from around the world with sustainability, quality and fair wage practices as a part of our business model. We believe health and wellness are byproducts of wholeness and our interconnectedness is the foundation of community and good stewardship in a world/earth that is very much alive.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a 4th generation herbalist and there are Master’s on both my Maternal and Paternal side of the family, so my indoctrination into natural herbs and medicinal solutions was from an early age. I grew up experiencing the power of living food, balanced meals, herbal teas and oils. My palate was expanded and I learned that some of the best things for the body are bitter, pungent, earthy and distasteful. I also learned at an early age that when it is time to give the body what it needs for balance and optimal health, taste is irrelevant. It seems like a simple concept but it can be a difficult one if your palate is driven by sugar. I believe that we have the ability to foster our wellness and bring balance to our health naturally.
Our motivation, educational approach to wellness and results set us apart. We want our clients to think about health and wellness holistically. We know that the more informed you are, the more options and choices are provided to you and those around you. We want you to know why something works and from where it derives, so that information will continue to serve generations after us as it has served those before. It is one of the reasons we only offer Sea Moss (Raw). We do not offer the gel, but we provide instructions on how to prepare the gel. It is a beautiful way to learn the process, add your energy and pass the knowledge down. We offer ways to build the body through nutrients like Moringa, Black Seed, Sea Moss and Himalayan Salt. We seek to provide relief and balance through the use of our products like Healing Butter, Emu Oil, Resins and Semi-precious Gemstones and Journals. While we recognize diet, exercise, sleep and mental health as pillars of health, we offer the perspective that hydration, work-life balance, forgiveness, meditation and journaling can be effective ways to deliberately lean into wholeness.
I am most proud of the results of our products as well as our approach. We have been able to share the benefits and detriments of many common items and processes we are exposed to daily. Offering time proven solutions is a joy. Fostering relief and healing for those in discomfort, through the use of our products has been our greatest achievement. It really is why we do what we do.
Getting to where we are today has required fortitude, sacrifice, blind commitment to the mission, which is to extend health and wellness through wholeness, discipline and excellence… Ma would say, “Do it like you’re doing it for Christ.” Although this journey has been challenging I think of hard and easy as relative terms. What I know is that the more you do something with focus and intention, the easier it becomes to do it repeatedly. There are many lessons you will learn along the way in business, but the one that has served me most is “Never Give Up” (Great-Aunt Mable’s words). With all we have accomplished I know there is still so much more to achieve. I look forward to growing the business, expanding the brand and being a part of the healing journey for those we serve.
When asked what I want the world to know about me and my brand story, I want you to know that I am built for my time and I am in my purpose. I am committed to health, wellness and wholeness. I believe in the dissemination of information that brings about elevation, balance and oneness for all. The brand Everything Ital will serve our clients and community in a way that fosters wholeness, prioritizes excellence, keeps us in right standing as stewards of the earth and brings to those we serve the best that the earth has to offer.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I were planning the itinerary for my best friend we would start at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. It holds many joyous memories for me and its beauty when in bloom, is unmatched. They curate new collections quite often, so there is always something new to see. There is a children’s garden which is always a hit if focused on family fun, but there are also indoor gardens that turn all adults into children again. A good example is the tropical rotunda. The rotunda feels like stepping into another hemisphere. Once you step into the space you are surrounded by the power of humidity, where everything is lush, alive and radiant with color and energy. It feels like stepping into a rainforest where you can feel the lifeforce of the plants around you. It’s a great way to reconnect with nature and oneself. I like to take my time and spend the day with reservations at Longleaf, so that when hunger calls we don’t have to leave the garden. While visiting Atlanta I would also try to score tickets to a show, either at The Fox or Alliance Theater depending on what is showing at the time. It’s hard to go wrong with a night at the theatre. I would definitely share some of my favorite places to dine like Bole (Ethiopian Cuisine), Southern Fusion Bistro (for their amazing vegan brunch), Poor Calvin’s (Asian Fusion) and R.Thomas (it used to be 24hr). Musically we tend to lean into Roots Music (conscious reggae) and International House. It’s a vibe, but Atlanta is always hosting a rooftop or private party with amazing sound sets. I also would want to add the High Museum to our itinerary. They offer amazing exhibits by day and a live Jazz vibe on Friday evenings. Our shopping reflects more local and cultural leanings like Atlanta Harvest, Afro Centric Network, The Met and Black Dot Cultural Center (Bookstore/ Coffee shop). We would end the itinerary with Arabian Mountain. The sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking and there are always amazing community building opportunities (thanks Ranger Shaundon).

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I appreciate having the opportunity to thank those who have made all the difference on my journey. First to Father GOD, my source, thank you for your Grace and Provision. As the company slogan reads, “Praise GOD from whom all good things come.” To the Love of my life Charisse Windom, thank you for affirming me and my purpose when very few had the vision. I am forever grateful to have a partner that is always by my side, holds my hand and believes Healing is possible…Still and Always.
To Pauline “Ma” Emmanuel, thank you for nurturing my gifts and abilities before I could and for pouring into me timeless knowledge and ways of being that inform who I am and how I trod upon the earth. To my Mom, Dianne Emmanuel, thank you for your unspoken sacrifices. From you I have learned many of my greatest lessons…Trini to the bone! I want to thank Arturo “Rocky” Corbett, Pop to call you a Master Herbalist is an understatement. As promised, I will continue to foster love, light, healing and the truth that everything starts within. To my brother Vincent, we began our journey of wellness together and that journey has expanded and grown me in ways I could not have conceived. May we always serve and utilize the expansive offerings of the earth for healing and restoration. To my sister Nicole, I love you. To Esther DeLeon thank you for being the embodiment of love and for the lifeline to another time and another way. You are a living example and just thinking of you makes me smile. I give thanks and praise for each of you.
