We had the good fortune of connecting with Jason “j Boy” Carey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jason “J Boy”, what do you attribute your success to?
That’s a great question, some would answer differently, Also I believe success is relative, you have to define success for yourself. For me the most important part of my success are intention and consistency. I am very intentional about my time, my personal programming like what I watch, what I listen to. The conversations I have with people. I feel like its all connected, being consistently intentional about my time and working toward short attainable goals has created desired successes along the journey

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a bit of swiss army knife of artist, business man, creative, and visionary. I am Actor, model, personality, writer, marketing manager, and luxury MC. Sounds like a big lie and that’s not even all the titles {Laughs}. The challenge with all of that which I bet most multi-talented individuals face is that you can do many things yet everyone wants you to focus on one. The thing about being a creative visionary, is the use of one talent often creates a lane for others.

I’m most proud of being able to block out the noise from others to define success for me. Then set a course to go after that success as I have defined it. I have gotten where I am professionally by not being afraid of the pivot, things change, the professional climate changes, you have to be willing to adjust.

Was it easy, no but I can say that things are easier than they were when I started. The thing is if things are too easy then the challenge or the goal isn’t big enough. Can’t be afraid to push for what you have been told is impossible. I have also learned that nobody knows what they are doing so therefore they are no better than me and there are no locked gates. Everything is accessible, sooner we get that “you can’t do that,” “you can’t have that” mentality out of our mind the more we start to progress. When I had my first opportunity on FM radio snatched away from me, no way did I see me being back in Radio not only as a personality but also an executive role like I am now at 93.9 PowerHitz in Atlanta. Now that I’m here, that contributes heavily to the mentality that everything is accessible.

I want the world to know the Jason Carey name, to be recognized as a premiere talent as an actor, personality and a host. That the Jason “J Boy” Carey name equals quality, good people, class, and a lot of fun.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The most fascinating person you might meet, is yourself! Discover you and you’ll find your wants, needs, talents, friends, foes, and deal breakers. Meeting yourself could unlock your full potential

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to say my family, but I must start with my Dad who is the leader of that family. He set the atmosphere of love and connection. He set the bar of showing up with class and well put together. My mom set habits of work ethic, developing good habits, and striving for excellence. All of that created the desire to create a community of support from peers outside of the house. It all starts with my Pops.
