We had the good fortune of connecting with Symone Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Symone, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always loved event planning! When I was in high school, I was President of the Student Government Association, where we were in charge of planning pep rallies, spirit week, the Homecoming Dance and more. Since then, I’ve always enjoyed bringing people together to have a good time by hosting parties at my house or planning vacations with friends. However, I never thought about making a career out of curating events until 2022. I had this vision of creating a lifestyle brand similar to B. Smith and Martha Stewart. I wanted to show people how to enjoy life through community, using food and drinks.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I originally started out as a journalist, working in television after I graduated from the University of Central Florida. I was a Multimedia Journalist in Tallahassee, Fl and then became a Lifestyle Host in Norfolk, Va. From there, I started working behind the scenes as a video producer for a national news outlet.

I started my business while I was with the national news outlet and thought I’d be able to have the comfort of a full-time job while I started this new venture. However, I was wrong. I was laid off in May of 2024.

I was living in South Florida at the time with plans to move to Atlanta, Georgia and grow my business. I didn’t let the layoff stop me from pursuing my dreams. I moved to Atlanta in June and hosted my first dinner part in July.

Has it been an easy journey? Absolutely not! People need community more than ever and being able to show people how to do so through my events is an honor and privilege. It’s what keeps me going.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was in town, I would probably take her to Ruby Chow’s! It’s one of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta. Then, I’d probably host a party at my house because that’s what I do best.

I love a good house party because I can control the guest list, the music, the food, and the decorations. Oh the best part, people can stay as long as they want.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’m a disciple of Jesus Christ and wouldn’t be where I am without his guidance. Next, I want to shoutout my parents for supporting my dreams as an entrepreneur. They’ve contributed to my business financially, they’ve poured into me emotionally. I’m beyond grateful to have parents who want the the best for me and actually show it. I also wouldn’t be here without the rest of my family and friends. I have a team of people who root for me through it all.
