We had the good fortune of connecting with Chara Dewberry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chara, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for my business was the desire for simple natural products that was beneficial for me and family. Due to various sensitive skin conditions in my family, I looked for a product that was affordable without harsh ingredients and was unable to find one. I love creating and coming up with new ideas that would help with self care. My background is in healthcare and Reiki Master. This sparked how passionate I am about creating products that are promoting healthy skin with natural ingredients, crafting unique products. Not only are my products unique, but helps create a space that encourage mindfulness and relaxation. Items included in my products are from natural organic materials. Some ingredients are harvested from my very own tiny garden. Overall, I create handcrafted products that focus on calming, inner peace, and overall well-being for the body, mind, and spirit.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My handmade crafts and body care products are crafted from the heart. I use a verity of raw materials and items from my very own tiny garden incorporated into my handmade products. Creating these products also helps me with a stronger inner spiritual connection and overall well-being as I express myself freely through art.

My body cream is simple: Butter and oil by Design by Dejoi. The ingredients are just natural shea butter, oils and vitamins that help with skin and hair care. No added fragrance’s due to the skin sensitivity in my family and this is something that can be used from hair down to the toes!

My meditation pyramids and jewelry are inspired by my background in my Reiki practice. These are created to promote tranquility and inner peace.

My paintings, and other decor items are made with good intentions to inspire and create space for overall well-being,

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a chance to hang out with my friend I have seen in years from the island and show her around. I would love to take her to the places that are hidden gems here in Atlanta and surrounding areas. I grew up in Atlanta and would take a trip back to old stomping ground and just hang out and take a stroll on the Atlanta Beltline with a quick stop at the Ponce City Market. I remember when this building was the old Sears building and for some time used as City Hall East. I would go to little 5 points and grab some good natural foods and oils from Sevananda. Grab a pizza from Savage pizza, this was a place I would hanging out with friends when i was younger after school and on the weekends. Go shopping a Junkman’s daughter for some cool unique finds. I bought my first pair of stiletto’s from that place, lol! I am a foodie so good food spots are where you would find me. Many friends I grew up with loved good places to eat and reminisce on good times. I would check on any upcoming festivals in the area like at Piedmont Park or Centennial Olympic park. The Dragoncon or the Juneteenth festivals are always fun! I would also love to take a trip to over to Buford highway area to my favorite hidden gem the Red & Green Brazillian Steak House. this restaurant is beautiful and was found one shift when I was working as a firefight to a call in the aera and i just noticed the name and looked it up and took a chance and never stopped going for special occasions. they have beautiful ballrooms in the basement and I hope to one day have a celebration there too! Now in the same parking lot a new favorite spot called E-Gyu Revolving Sushi & Korean BBQ is such a fun experience! A great to hike off all that good food is to walk the Victory creek trail at Roswell mill. A fun day hike with awesome views. One another day I would head over to Covington, GA at the square, mostly if your a fan of Vampire Diaries! The last stop would be a day trip drive down to Savannah GA to hang out downtown and stop by the Savannah Smiles Dueling piano bar! Of course we would circle back toward Stone Mountain park and climb the mountain, take the train ride which has a little action during the ride and just hang out with our families to enjoy the various attractions and hope to catch the laser light show.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout to my family. My husband has gone through illness and challenges, but still encouraged me to keep going and doing what I love. I am really inspired by his resilience I have my parents and my family on my husbands side who have given ongoing support. They were here form the beginning trial and error phase and still here as a ministry of encouragement. I really wanted to let them know how much love them, and appreciate the opportunities showcasing my products. I also wanted to shout out the local communities that allow crafters and inspiring artist a chance to bring creativity at the seasonal festivals and the chance to meet others with like minded interest.
