We had the good fortune of connecting with Shanna Lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shanna, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I grew up moving and living in different parts of the world including different parts of the U.S., Germany, and Japan. It gave me exposure to different ways of living, people, and culture. It also exposed me to what is common among us across differences. That exposure fostered curiosity and an appetite for learning that still persists today. Sentences I tend to start with as a child and up until now is “Why?” and “How?” I always want to understand more not simply know what is.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I create content focusing on how color shows up in the world to spark inspiration, emotion, and conversation. Primarily, this comes out through my love of makeup and being a salsa dancer but I’m realizing more how color inspires me through nature, travel, and the arts. I’m excited to share more as my content evolves!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to SCAD fashion museum. It’s truly a gem in Atlanta to see beautiful fashion exhibits. We would visit the High Museum and MLK Jr. Historical National park. We’d hang out in Piedmont Park and go on a hike nearby. For food, I would take them to Bacchanalia if they’re feeling really fancy, Talat Market for great Thai cuisine, and Whoopsies for delicious cocktails. And if they’re up for more fun, I would take them out salsa dancing!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents! They were my first supporters and remain so today. They continue to teach and remind me of what’s important. They fostered valuing myself, having faith, and integrity no matter where I am at in life. I love them and I’m grateful for them!
