We had the good fortune of connecting with Dnicolette and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DNicolette, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued a creative career because, it has been a dream of mine since I was about three years old. I just had a niche for music. The more I learned about it, the more I grew to love it. Starting from being in chorus in elementary school, to band in middle and high school, music has always been a part of me. It’s not just a passion; it’s my purpose. I realized early on that my voice has the power to tell stories, inspire confidence, and uplift others. Through my music, I want to show people —especially women-that it’s okay to take up space, own your truth, and shine unapologetically.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Nothing in my life has been easy! Especially with my experience trying out for American Idol 5 times, The Voice, The Apollo, and singing the national anthem at Semi-Pro football games, etc. One of my biggest lessons was realizing with every loss taken I had gained some type of knowledge. Through that, it has helped mold me into who I am. I had to keep persevering to become even better than that “no.” Which leads into the music, I want to bring back a “90’s” type of R&B. Some of that painful, yet nostalgic music which sets me out from the rest. As an up-and-coming singer, my story is about growth-embracing challenges and turning them into art that resonates with others.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My bestie coming in town we HAVE to start out by getting an Airbnb in the Buckhead area. Then we would start the night out by getting something to eat, or go to an open mic session at Apache. We would for sure have to check out Ponce city and get some sushi from MISO KO. The next day we’re heading to the Battery to do some activities. For sure heading to Punch Bowl Social. Go to karaoke and we have to make a trip to Little Five Points to for some Hattie B’s.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would definitely say my mom! She has been helping me dive deeper into my passion. From putting me in choir, to going to voice lessons she’s been my number one fan through everything.
