Hi Kiana & La Vonna, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My love for photography and my mom’s vision for a business made starting this journey together feel natural. I focus on capturing the shots behind the camera, while she helps with posing and creating the perfect scene. For my mom, it’s about combining creativity, passion, and the joy of making memories. Together, as a mother-daughter team, we capture the beauty in our clients’ lives, turning moments into treasured keepsakes. It’s not just about photography—it’s about celebrating life, family, and the connections that matter most.

What should our readers know about your business?
Our business, Captured Moments Photography, is built on a special bond—a mother-daughter team dedicated to capturing life’s most meaningful memories. What sets us apart is the warmth and connection we bring to every session. I work behind the camera to create natural and timeless images, while my mom helps clients feel comfortable and confident with her thoughtful posing guidance. For larger events, like weddings, she often steps in as a second photographer, ensuring we capture every special detail and emotion from multiple perspectives.

Starting this journey together wasn’t easy, but our shared passion and determination carried us through. We’ve learned that building trust and making people feel at ease is just as important as the technical side of photography. We want our clients to feel like family, knowing they’re in a safe and welcoming space to celebrate their moments.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting Atlanta for a week, I’d make sure they experienced the city’s vibrant culture, great food, and family-friendly fun. We’d start at Ponce City Market for amazing food and rooftop views, then explore the artsy vibes of Little 5 Points with its unique shops and street art.

For outdoor adventure, we’d spend a day at Stone Mountain, hiking the trails and enjoying family-friendly attractions like the laser show. We’d also visit the Georgia Aquarium or Zoo Atlanta and relax with a picnic at Piedmont Park or a stroll along the Atlanta BeltLine.

For dinner, we’d head to Monterrey Mexican Restaurant in Jonesboro. It’s one of my favorite spots to enjoy authentic Mexican food and unwind after a fun-filled day. It’d be a week packed with great memories, delicious meals, and the best of Atlanta!

My shoutout goes to my mom, my business partner, La Vonna Garcia, Who has always encouraged me to chase my dreams and reminded me that I can achieve anything I set my mind to. To my husband, thank you for being my rock and supporting me every step of the way. And to my 2 children—you are my inspiration and the reason behind everything I do.
