We had the good fortune of connecting with David Whitaker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi David, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
There’s no one way to win. There’s conventional ways of doing things and then there’s unknown paths that haven’t been found. I had to figure out what works best for me, and also life and business is easier when you have a good team.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I run a Film Production and Photography company “Militant Guerilla Productions” and i also co-own a Film and Media production company “ProjX Media. To get to where I am today I had to take chances literally started by filming music video and productions for free to get experience and recognition free photoshoots too. It wasn’t easy but it was well worth it. One of the lessons I’ve learned were that you can get further with a good team/group compared to by yourself. Our brand excels at making even the most simple idea into something cinematic.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d probably take them for food and visit a few places i enjoy thats related to film. For food probably Milk and Honey for breakfast, Velvet Taco for lunch, and Southern National or Bones for dinner. as far as attraction Maybe the Assembly Yards or something downtown like the Trap Museum and Centennial Park to hit up the Ferris wheel.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a shout out to my business partner @supmeezy we grown a great production company together. One of my filmmaker OG’s Ray Knowledge. The man who gave me my first film break Big D and to everyone of my clients from photos to feature films and everything in between I wouldn’t be me without them.
