Hi Ivie, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
Wow, this is a big one for me. The most important lesson my business has taught me is the value of trusting myself and standing up for what I believe in. Building Sun & Moon Permanent Jewelry has shown me that no one else will advocate for me the way I can for myself. It’s pushed me to make decisions with confidence, trust my instincts, and step into my own power. This lesson hasn’t just shaped my business—it’s transformed my personal life, helping me become more confident and authentic in everything I do.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well, I am a Permanent Jewelry Artist, and this work is not just my career- it’s my passion. What sets me apart is that I’m fully dedicated to this craft. It’s not a hobby or a side hustle; it’s something I’ve committed myself to wholeheartedly. My personality and ability to connect with people make the experience truly special. I always aim to make it fun, memorable, and personal for everyone I work with.

To get to where I am today, I dedicated 15 years of my life to orthodontics. That career gave me incredible dexterity and a set of very specific, detail-oriented skills that transferred seamlessly into making jewelry. The transition to permanent jewelry felt natural, but learning the welding aspect was a whole new challenge. I took specialized training to master that skill, and it’s now one of my favorite parts of the process.

One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced since starting my business has been learning to stand up for myself and advocate for my vision. Early on, I had to say no to a friend who wanted to partner with me. I knew in my heart that the direction things were heading with her wasn’t aligned with my vision or dream for this business. As hard as it was, I had to trust myself and stay true to what I believed in. This is my dream, my journey, and no one else is meant to walk this exact path with me. Making those tough decisions has been a powerful reminder to stay confident and true to my vision.

Sun & Moon Permanent Jewelry represents so much more than just jewelry. It’s about creating an experience and a connection. I’m proud to offer something that reflects both my passion and my dedication to craftsmanship, making it not only a rewarding career but also a meaningful way to connect with others.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were to visit, before having kids I would have recommended heading into Atlanta to walk along The BeltLine, visit the Coca-Cola Factory, explore the Aquarium, and experience the nightlife. Those were always fun and exciting ways to soak in the city’s energy and attractions.

But after having kids, my preferences have shifted. I now prefer to stay closer to home and enjoy the local charm. A great day would include exploring Marietta Square, with its unique boutiques, delicious restaurants, and welcoming vibe. It’s the kind of place where you can relax, enjoy the community, and find something for everyone.

That said, I’m still a foodie at heart and will always travel for good food. Buford Highway would absolutely be on the list for its authentic Asian cuisine. The variety and quality there are unmatched, and it’s a must for anyone who loves trying new and incredible flavors.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely. I’ve been so fortunate to have an incredible circle of support throughout this journey. First and foremost, my husband deserves a huge shoutout. He’s been my rock, encouraging me to take this leap of faith and supporting me every step of the way, even when it meant big changes for our family.

I also want to recognize the amazing women I worked with in the dental field. They were instrumental in encouraging me to follow my dream, branch out, and believe in myself. Their support and belief in me gave me the confidence to take this path, and I’m so grateful for their encouragement.

Finally, I have to mention my grandmother, who passed away last year at the age of 101. She was my rock and my biggest cheerleader. Her unwavering belief in me has been a constant source of strength and motivation in my life and career.

There’s no doubt that this journey has been shaped by the love, wisdom, and encouragement of these incredible people. I’m so grateful for their role in my story.
