Meet Rebecca Camon | Co-Founder of Buckhead Networking Group | TechOps Engineer | Philanthropist | Mentor/Sponsor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebecca Camon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rebecca, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
This is such a great question! I get asked all the time, How do you do it all? Honestly, I never truly know how to answer that because the truth is, I’m figuring it out as I go. My philosophy is to take everything day by day. I used to feel like I had to check off every single item on my to-do list before the day was over. Over time, I’ve learned to give myself grace. If something doesn’t get done, it just doesn’t. The world keeps spinning, and I’m learning to let go of that pressure.
My life is a constant balancing act. I’m a single mother, an MBA student, a full-time professional, a socialite, and an entrepreneur. On top of that, I have to make room for family, friendships, and perhaps, the hardest part for me, taking care of myself. Putting myself first often feels counterintuitive because I’m so used to pouring into others, but I’ve realized it’s necessary to keep everything else in motion.
What’s most interesting is how much my version of balance has shifted over time. Before all of this— before entrepreneurship, higher education, and the various roles I now carry—it was simpler to manage work and life. Back then, it was just my job, school, and family. But as I’ve added more responsibilities and passions to my plate, I’ve had to adjust my mindset.
Some days, balance doesn’t mean dividing time evenly between everything, it means prioritizing what absolutely needs my attention that day and being okay with putting something else on hold. Other days, it means embracing the chaos and trusting that I’ll catch up later.
The biggest challenge for me is finding time for myself amidst everything. It’s so easy to put myself last because there’s always something or someone else demanding my time. But I’ve come to understand that my well-being is the foundation of everything I do. If I’m not okay, nothing else will be either.
My journey hasn’t been perfect, but it’s been rewarding. I’m constantly learning, evolving, and finding new ways to redefine what balance means for me. And at the end of the day, I remind myself that I’m doing the best I can, and that’s enough.

What should our readers know about your business?
My journey into entrepreneurship and networking hasn’t been easy, but it’s been incredibly rewarding. Growing up as one of six siblings raised by a single Black mother in the South, I experienced financial challenges, bullying, and often felt isolated. I didn’t have many friends, but I chose to remain kind and helpful because I understood how much it meant to feel seen and supported. Those experiences shaped my passion for creating inclusive spaces where people can connect authentically and thrive.
Breaking into tech was another uphill battle. After dropping out of college due to life’s issues, I spent years in customer service jobs feeling stuck. Becoming a mother reignited my drive to succeed, and I returned to school determined to build a better future. But even after breaking into tech, the challenges didn’t stop. I faced bias, rejection, and setbacks like being laid off from a dream role in Diversity and Inclusion. Each obstacle pushed me to dig deeper, find mentors, and eventually create my own opportunities.
That resilience is what led me to Buckhead Networking Group. I started as a Project Manager and worked my way to becoming the Chief of Operations, With that, I’ve helped build a community that’s more than just a platform for exchanging business cards. We’re about creating meaningful, intentional connections that empower people personally and professionally. What sets us apart is our emphasis on inclusion and authenticity. Networking can be intimidating, especially for underrepresented groups, so we’ve designed spaces where everyone—whether they’re professionals, entrepreneurs, singles, or part of the LGBTQIA+ community—can feel welcome and thrive.
Our flagship Discord platform, Connect Atlanta, allows members to foster relationships that go beyond the surface. From exclusive premium channels to community-driven events, we’ve created an ecosystem where individuals can connect, grow, and even lead their own communities within ours. It’s about more than professional development; it’s about seeing people as whole individuals and supporting their personal growth too.
What I’m most proud of is the culture we’ve built. A culture rooted in trust, encouragement, and genuine care for our members. My story, from a bullied kid to a Co-Founder helping others find their voice, is proof that kindness, resilience, and intentionality can create something extraordinary. I want the world to know that Buckhead Networking Group is here for anyone looking to grow their network, discover their tribe, and make connections that truly matter. Together, we’re not just building networks, we’re building legacies.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting Atlanta for a week, I’d make sure they experienced the perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, great food, and meaningful connections. Here’s what our itinerary would look like:
Day 1: Exploring the Atlanta Beltline
We’d kick off the trip with a walk or bike ride along the Atlanta Beltline, soaking in the vibrant energy, street art, and skyline views. For lunch, we’d stop at Ponce City Market to try a variety of cuisines—from tacos at Minero to the iconic burgers at H&F Burger. Later, we’d grab cocktails at 9 Mile Station, the rooftop beer garden with stunning views of the city.
Day 2: Bamboo Forest & Chattahoochee River
The morning would be all about nature. We’d explore the Bamboo Forest trail off the Chattahoochee River. It’s a peaceful escape, perfect for photos and reconnecting with the outdoors. Afterward, we’d grab a late brunch at The Flying Biscuit Cafe in Candler Park for some classic Southern comfort food.
Day 3: Networking & Cocktails
Midweek, I’d introduce them to my professional world with a Buckhead Networking Group event. They’d get to meet dynamic entrepreneurs, creatives, and professionals while enjoying a sophisticated venue in the Buckhead area. After the event, we’d head to Toast on Lenox for upscale cocktails and lively vibes to keep the networking going.
Day 4: Food Market Adventures
We’d spend the day indulging in Atlanta’s diverse food scene. First stop: Krog Street Market, where we’d sample everything from dumplings at Gu’s Kitchen to gelato at Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams. For dinner, we’d head to Slutty Vegan, a local favorite for vegan comfort food, and end the evening with live music at City Winery.
Day 5: Hiking & Relaxation
We’d head out early for a hike at Stone Mountain Park. After taking in the breathtaking views from the summit, we’d spend the afternoon unwinding at Jeju Sauna, a Korean spa offering ultimate rest and relaxation. Dinner would be a low-key but delicious meal at South City Kitchen, where they’d experience elevated Southern cuisine.
Day 6: Art, History, and Culture
We’d dedicate this day to exploring Atlanta’s cultural gems. Stops would include the High Museum of Art, the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, and Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park. Lunch would be at Mary Mac’s Tea Room for a true Southern experience. To end the day, we’d enjoy a fun, interactive dinner at The Garden Room, one of Atlanta’s most Instagrammable spots.
Day 7: Relaxed Sunday Brunch & Beltline Farewell
On the final day, we’d have a long, relaxed brunch at Breakfast at Barneys—a favorite for its chic vibe and delicious dishes. Then, we’d revisit the Beltline, stopping at local shops and enjoying some last-minute bites at The Spotted Trotter. Before they leave, we’d watch the sunset at Piedmont Park, reflecting on the week and the memories we’ve made.
Now that sounds like a lot… but Atlanta is such a dynamic city, and this itinerary would highlight the best it has to offer. From its vibrant culture and food scene to its opportunities for connection and relaxation. It’s the perfect blend of excitement, inspiration, and Southern hospitality.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to give a huge shoutout to my mentor, Darrell Stinson. From the very beginning of my journey into the world of technology, he has been a cornerstone of my growth. Darrell has been instrumental in changing my perspective, pushing me to think bigger, and helping me navigate challenges with a strategic mindset. Whether it’s supporting my initiatives, game-planning, or offering words of encouragement, his guidance has been nothing short of transformative. He’s a mentor who goes beyond the surface, and I’m incredibly grateful for his unwavering support and belief in me.
Books have also played a huge role in shaping my mindset and approach to both life and work. Atomic Habits by James Clear is one of those game-changers. It’s not just a book about habits; it’s a practical guide to intentional living. The principles in this book taught me how to create sustainable, meaningful routines and helped me reframe the way I approach challenges. It showed me that small, consistent actions can lead to massive transformations.
Another book that has deeply impacted me is The Art of Organizational Transformation by Gary Brantley. Although the title might sound corporate and technical, the content goes so much deeper. It provides practical strategies for leadership, relationship-building, and transformation that I’ve been able to apply not only in my professional journey but in my personal growth as well. It’s an underrated gem that has offered me guidance as I navigate leadership roles and work to bring impactful change to the spaces I’m part of.
Lastly, I have to give a BIG shoutout to Johnny Wolfe, the CEO of Buckhead Networking Group. Without him, I wouldn’t be fully living in my passions today. Johnny saw potential in me that I didn’t even fully recognize in myself at the time. He gave me opportunities to lead, supported my ideas, and allowed me to bring my vision to life. One of the greatest gifts in life is having a business partner who respects and trusts you. Through his leadership and belief in my abilities, I’ve gained new confidence and grown in ways I couldn’t have imagined. I’m forever grateful for the opportunities he’s given me to shine.
When I reflect on my journey, I realize how much of my success has been built on the shoulders of those who saw something in me and poured into my growth. None of us get to where we are alone, and I’m thankful for every person, book, and resource that has shaped my story.
