We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Hill and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephanie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started Hills Heels Hooray during a time where everything was uncertain for us in the world. The pandemic was a time in my life where I was able to turn my passion for fashion into a lucrative business. I started thrifting in 2014. I recently had moved to Georgia, took a huge pay cut, and remember my initial feeling of embarrassment when I entered my first thrift store. However, I continued to thrift periodically as I was so amazed as to what I could find. Years later, in 2019, God gave me the name of my business and no further instructions. I took the name (Hills Heels Hooray) created a business page and waited for His next steps. Fast forward to 2020, during the month of February, while on Facebook, I saw an opportunity to go live on another thrifting platform and sell my clothes out of my personal closet. Since then, I have created a huge following, operable website, taught master classes, was featured in local publications but most importantly help other women make their cents make sense.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My name is Stephanie Hill, Ed.S and I am the the founder of Hills Heels Hooray, LLC. I strive to help women all around the world look great without breaking the bank. I offer a dazzling range of expertly curated clothing designed with your convenience in mind. I sources only the best garments and aims to provide my customers with pieces that they can love and cherish for a life time.

I am a passionate thrift reseller and stylist with a keen eye for fashion and a commitment to sustainable and budget-friendly style. I believe in the power of thrifted treasures to tell unique stories and make fashion accessible to all. As a dedicated curator of pre-loved pieces, I strive to redefine the notion of style by blending vintage finds with contemporary trends.

My life experiences have helped me get to where I am today. I know I do not and can not afford to look back. I experienced a time where I was broke and indeed broken. My finances did not align to my way of life at that time, I needed to adjust my way of life have have it align to the resources God provided me with at that time. With experiencing a time in my life where I was “financially challenged” I had to become creative as to what I needed to do as it pertains to what I needed for my career in education. I always had a passion for fashion, and paying for items at regularly price was not out of my normal. So, I would say, experience was my best teacher.

In this business, I have learned how to maintain and leverage my business credit. My latest eBook (Minding My Business Credit) teachers others the fundamentals of how to develop their business credit portfolio. I want the world to know that you can look and feel amazing without breaking the bank. Our goal is to create generation wealth and not leave a lifetime of debt.

Customer satisfaction is always at the core of everything I do, and I work tirelessly to bring endless value to my clients. I want to support women in their journey to true confidence by providing clothing that makes them feel as good as they look. When you choose one of my hand picked garments, you have officially taken the first step of saying yes to you and no to mediocrity.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take my friend to Poor Calvins, Truva, or Capital Grille (depending on the vibe) or to eat; Cigar City Club for the music and vibe and Club Bolts for laughs, good food, and energy. I am pretty laid back so I can do just one of these activties and take it in the for night:)

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out my amazing husband, Mr. Andre Hill. As my emotions start to overtake me in this moment, I could not do any of this without God and him. I know that God strategically placed him in my life! I am not only an entrepreneur, but I work full time in education as a district lead, I am currently working on my proposal for dissertation, and I am a wife. So many hats, but nothing beats being able to share this journey of life with my husband.
