We had the good fortune of connecting with Johnny “moroccobama” Bethea and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Johnny “MOROCCOBAMA”, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Simply working for myself. I didn’t think I was creating my own business until after my first year of providing the tattoo service. I was essentially running a hustle that evolved into a promised profitable business.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
One thing that sets me apart from anyone else is simply the hunger for success. I feel like I am always pushing for better and that will always lead me to greater things. COVID happened in 2020 which was my senior year in college at NCAT in Greensboro, NC. That year I saw everyone leaving their careers as doctors, mechanics, other high paying careers and they were stepping down and stepping away and transferring their energy and time into what they loved to do. Whether it was baking, drawing, even wrapping cars, everyone realized it is important to do what you love & the money will come. And from there I asked myself what did I want & I wanted a legacy and from there God made it possible for me to pause painting on canvas board but to paint on human skin building and adding value to my legacy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I haven’t really had time to explore the city but from the places I do know I would have to go to the belt line. The belt line is just a free space with a lot of different cultures, foods, events and just a peaceful strip.

We would definitely have to go to my two favorite steak houses , little alley steakhouse and Hal’s family steakhouse.

After eating everyday we would go to V12 sports bar. It is a one of kind experience filled with a stunning bar & palatial dishes along with great customer service and networking opportunities.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people and events that led to my drive for success but most importantly Dre. If it wasn’t for Dre gifting me a tattoo machine because he wanted someone to do his tattoos for free one day, I would not be where I am. He bought me a starter machine and I was dedicated from there on how to put the machine together and actually tattoo.
