Meet Allie Mitchell | Makeup Artist and Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Allie Mitchell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Allie, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
The end goal is definitely to be traveling the world teaching aspiring makeup artists the skills that I have learned and also to teach them how to navigate the beauty industry. I also would love to have a makeup studio and have other artists working for me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started out drawing and painting pretty much my entire childhood. I would sometimes draw my own comics and cartoon characters. I get that from my dad.
What sets me apart from others is that I really do try to do my best on EVERY person that sits in my chair. I don’t care if you’re a celebrity, a regular citizen, a friend, or a stranger. Everyone gets the same out of me.
I started doing makeup in college, when I was 20. It started out as a hobby and is now my full-time career and main source of income. It has not been easy but I keep going! I constantly market myself. Some lessons I’ve learned along the way are to find your niche and stick to that, especially when posting on your social media. What I would like the world to know about me is that I’m literally just a girl from Cincinnati with BIG dreams that loves to create.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In Atlanta, I love going to The U Bar. It’s always a good time in there. I also like to eat at Busy Bee’s for Soul Food, Hungry AF, American Deli (classic, go-to), and anywhere I can find good sushi.
I like the illusions museum. There’s some cool stuff in there.
In my hometown of Cincinnati, I’d suggest catching a Reds game or Bengals game. Walking along the river. Getting some pizza from Larosa’s. If you like chili go to Gold Star, Skyline, or PRC. We have a lot of art and murals to see downtown. There’s lots to do.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I feel like out of everyone, the people that support me the most are my little brother Lamont, my grandma, and my dad. I definitely have to give recognition to my clients! I’d be nothing without them. I appreciate the people that spend their hard-earned money with me at every appointment.
