We had the good fortune of connecting with Trocon Talhouk and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Trocon, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Entrepreneurship has always been a dream of mine. I’ve always wanted to leave behind a legacy and have a recognizable brand that people associate with. I knew the process wouldn’t be easy but I was ready for the challenge and trusted the process.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The journey wasn’t easy. Lots of long days because I had to maintain a steady full time job to help fund my apprenticeship. I literally went to work at 9 am, got off at 4pm, went straight to the tattoo shop, and apprenticed until 10pm. Almost everyday. I had to push myself because it was something that I really wanted.
It was tough but I knew the reward would definitely be worth it. So I persevered.
With 25 years of tattoo experience, I’ve honed my specialty to Black and Grey realism and Lettering amassing quite a few awards in these categories at various conventions.
It’s definitely a testament to the hard work that I’ve put in over the years and being passionate about my craft.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take them to The Battery at Truist park. There are a lot of restaurants and bars there and the atmosphere is always festive.
Stone Mountain park would also be included on the itinerary because of its awesome structure.
Lastly I would take them to Buckhead to experience a little bit of Atlanta’s night life.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe a lot of credit to my wife for supporting me and allowing me to live out my dream. As much as I have to travel because of work, I don’t have to worry about household affairs because she takes care of all that.
I would also like to shoutout Troy Timple for including me in the Villain Arts Tattoo Convention circuit. I’ve been able to travel the world with some amazing artists and soak up as much knowledge as I possibly could. I can honestly say that if it wasn’t for this opportunity, I would be half as good as I am now at tattooing.
