We had the good fortune of connecting with Lu González and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lu, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to create a community of women who support each other and understand how powerful we are, and how makeup and fashion that help us to connect and most important to feel better with ourselves.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think that the main difference is, actually makeup and fashion helped me in my recovery process, I had really bad times with depression and an eating disorder, and one of the ways I had my mind centered was when I just began to do some makeup or clothes matching! That really distracted me from those awful thoughts in my mind! Besides, I try to teach all women out there to do makeup and clothes matching that works with how great and beautiful they are, not to change their faces or hide their unique beautiful bodies.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would definitely go to downtown so could spend some time at the aquarium, which I totally love!! And of course, we’ll go to the mountains! I love how nature is part of our daily routine! We have to go the Helen! It’s my absolutely favorite!! To walk and eat lots of fudge.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I think that I have had many inspiring people in my life, my mom, my sister, a cousin who I love! My friends and even artist and singers whose careers I follow and have that great “girl power” in their work, like Shakira, KarolG, Anahí, they are an inspiration for us all to empowering and come from the ashes to build a better self.
