Hi Mario, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The primary motivation behind starting my own business was to create a stable and sustainable way to provide for my family while achieving financial freedom. I wanted to build something that would offer long-term security and independence, both personally and professionally. Entrepreneurship also gave me the opportunity to create an additional stream of income, which is crucial in today’s economy. Beyond financial goals, I was driven by the desire to take control of my time, apply my skills, and contribute to my community by offering a service that enhances the beauty and functionality of outdoor spaces. Starting Fleming Pinestraw & Lawn Care has allowed me to do just that while instilling a sense of pride and ownership in the work we do.
What should our readers know about your business?
At Fleming Pinestraw & Lawn Care, what sets us apart from others is the pride we take in every single job. I’m deeply committed to delivering top-quality results and aiming for perfection on every project, no matter the size. The satisfaction of seeing a customer’s smile after transforming their outdoor space is what drives me every day. That personal connection and attention to detail are key to the success of my business.
Getting to where I am today hasn’t been easy. It’s taken relentless persistence, constant grinding, and never getting too comfortable. I’ve always believed that consistency and hard work are what bring long-term success, so I’ve made it my mission to stay focused and push forward, even when the road was tough.
The journey has definitely been challenging, but I’ve learned to overcome those obstacles through prayer, faith, and unwavering support from my family. They’ve been my backbone, and their encouragement has kept me going when times were hard. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned along the way is the value of word-of-mouth—it truly is the best form of advertising. I’ve also learned that perseverance is everything; you might hear 100 “no’s,” but it only takes one “yes” to change everything and set things into motion.
What I want the world to know about Fleming Pinestraw & Lawn Care is that we are more than just a service provider—we’re a business built on dedication, family values, and a passion for making outdoor spaces beautiful. We specialize in Pine Straw, mulch, rock, and wood chip installations, as well as lawn care services like mowing, edging, fertilizing, and seasonal maintenance for both residential and commercial properties. As a proud veteran-owned business, we are committed to delivering high-quality, reliable landscaping solutions that enhance the beauty and functionality of any property.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting for a week, here’s how I’d make sure they had the best time ever:
Day 1: We’d kick things off with dinner at Frida’s Bar and Grill in Fayetteville, GA. Their food is amazing, and it’s a great spot to start the trip with some authentic flavors. Afterward, we’d hit up Red Phone Booth for a unique speakeasy experience with great drinks and a cool atmosphere.
Day 2: For lunch, we’d stop by The Hive Buckhead for a delicious meal in a vibrant atmosphere. In the afternoon, we’d head over to Beat The Bomb Atlanta, an interactive game experience that’s always a blast. It’s the perfect way to get in some fun and laughs.
Day 3: We’d spend the day outdoors at Cloverland Ranch, where we could enjoy a mix of nature and adventure. Later, we’d have dinner at Spice House, a perfect spot for flavorful Caribbean food that will definitely satisfy.
Day 4: We’d start with a relaxing day exploring some local parks and scenery, then enjoy dinner at Boogalou. The vibe is great, and they’ve got fantastic food and drinks.
Day 5: For a bit of shopping and local exploring, we’d visit some of the unique spots around town, then grab a casual meal at one of my favorite local spots before unwinding.
Whether it’s incredible food, unique drinks, or fun activities like Beat The Bomb and Cloverland Ranch, I’d make sure every day of the trip was packed with excitement. These are just a few of my favorite spots that really highlight what this area has to offer.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are several people who have played a significant role in my journey and deserve recognition. First, I’d like to dedicate a special shoutout to my father, Calvin Fleming, who taught me the ins and outs of this business and provided me with the foundational knowledge I needed to succeed. His guidance has been invaluable, and I carry his lessons with me in every decision I make.
I also want to thank my mother, Wanda Fleming, who instilled in me the values of hard work, perseverance, and sacrifice. She raised me to understand the importance of dedication and striving for what you want in life, and her influence is at the core of everything I do.
Finally, I owe a huge amount of gratitude to my beautiful wife, Shantress Fleming. Her unwavering support and belief in my dream have been a constant source of motivation. She has stood by me through every challenge, and her encouragement has been instrumental in making this business a reality. Without their love, support, and guidance, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
