We had the good fortune of connecting with Olivia Powell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Olivia, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Throughout the years, I have spent a lot of time in the media industry. I have seen it evolve through different stages and it is continuing to evolve day by day. One thing that is extremely important is when you are growing in the industry is community. I am a firm believer that community is key. You cannot be in this field alone and that is something that I experienced initally starting out. That is what inspired me to create Legacy Media. Legacy Media is a platform for ALL creators to have a community that supports their craft and their love for their craft. I want everyone who joins the Legacy community to know that they are loved, their craft is a perfect gift and that they have found their media home.

What should our readers know about your business?
Something I would like to let the world know that being different doesn’t single you out. Growing up, I was considered that “quiet girl.” I loved people but I was extremely shy and people would call me a nerd and not really associate with me. I found my love of being a creative very early but the environment I was in did not allow for me to share it with others. When I got to high school, I found the art community and became a part of it and that is where I began to gain my confidence. In 2021, I went through a lot of major life changes and only my creativity pulled me out of those dark times. I was began working more on my creative outlet and started putting my self out there as a media personality. The first celebrity interview I hosted was with T.I. From that point on I hit the ground running in the industry. I always like to tell people that the method the madness is to put yourself in environments you belong in, find your community. That is one of my main values I stand on for Legacy Media, community is key!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If you know me, you know I spend 90% of my time in East Atlanta village. I LOVE, The Beltline, Old Fourthward, Virginia Highlands, Piedmont Park and most definitely Ponce City Market. It is one of the most creative spots in the city and I have met so many amazing people on the Beltline. It also has a lot of creative spots for photoshoots and studios for creative events. Not to mention, there are a lot of delicious eateries such as Yumbii, Gustos, Bell Street, Jenni’s… I could go on for days.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people who I would like to give recognition to but the number one person I would like to give recognition to is my grandfather. As cliche as it sounds, he was my hero when it came to a lot of things but if anybody knew him, he had a heart of gold. In any situation, he made sure that his light was shining in every room that he walked into. His exerted so much positive confidence and nothing could take that from him. That is something that I implement in the media industry and it is something that is much needed. The industry can be very much dog eat dog but I always like to be a light in every project I pour in to.
