We had the good fortune of connecting with Alyssa & Mariah and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alyssa & Mariah, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My sister and I love fashion, art, cosmetics, crafts, just a little of everything. So when we started this business we wanted to incorporate everything we loved in it. So we brainstormed a lot on certain things we like and also our friends. It was nerve wrecking and learning process. 

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Boujee Lil Boss does a little of everything from selling accessories, cosmetics, to custom items. We hustlin over here trying to tap into everything. So don’t let the Boujee part of our name fool you lol. It was hard getting to where we are now because we’ve designed our business cards, thank you cards, website and social media pages and content. We also hand make all of our beauty products. So it’s a lot of work behind the scenes. This pandemic as well! Omg! We do virtual learning as well as run our business. I’m (Alyssa) in High School and my sister (Mariah) is in Middle School. So we just take it one day at a time and plan everything out so we don’t burn out lol. We want the world to know that Boujee Lil Boss is here! We started this business to give inspiration to teens that it’s possible to do what you love and make a business out of it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The beach! One of the perks of living on an island. The restaurants, there are so many but the faves are Ruby Lee’s and Red Stripe’s. We would most definitely take a ride to Savannah, GA and Pooler, GA to the fun parks.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We would love to shout out our parents for helping us start this business. Our mom purchased the book Kidpreneurs: Young Entrepreneurs With Big Ideas! By Adam and Matthew Toren that really made us want to be business owners and help guided us in this process.
