We had the good fortune of connecting with Michele Rather and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michele, how do you think about risk?
I have a strong conviction in the importance of having faith in God and being willing to take calculated risks for personal growth. Prior to creating Order In The Closet, I served as a high-producing sales manager at a luxury car dealership. When I encountered a 30% reduction in pay, I bravely chose to resign without having a backup plan in place, as I sought to have greater control over my income. I committed to never allowing others to have control over my financial well-being. Realizing that living off my savings was not a sustainable solution, I promptly devised a plan to assist others in organizing their living spaces. Nearly ten years later, Order In The Closet has thrived into a successful, full-service custom closet company, providing clients with personalized and innovative organization solutions.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am the founder of Order In The Closet. What truly differentiates us from large-scale closet companies is our commitment to treating every client with the same care and attention we would give to a close friend or family member. We deeply understand the paramount importance of delivering exceptional customer service and consistently prioritize the needs of our customers.
After experiencing a 30% reduction in pay at my corporate job and lacking a fallback plan, I made the difficult decision to resign. Despite encountering significant challenges and initial missteps, I remained resolute in my determination not to abandon my aspiration of establishing a flourishing business. Through this journey, I have come to realize that the things we achieve through our own hard work are far more valuable than those easily obtained or given to us.
In addition to crafting visually appealing and practical closets for our clients, we are dedicated to contributing to a better world by collaborating with charities to aid in the donation of clothing and other items from our clientele.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Shopping – Lenox Mall and The Avalon
Restaurants – The Optimist for Seafood, Just Brunch for Brunch, Nuevo Loredo for Mexican and Cadillac Margaritas
Chateau Elan = Wine Tasting

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shoutout to my incredible mother, who has been a constant source of inspiration and guidance in my life. Through her actions, she has shown me the essence of setting ambitious goals, formulating a clear plan to accomplish them, and persevering until success is achieved. Her unwavering commitment to hard work and her belief in the power of dedication have taught me that any obstacles or challenges that life presents can be overcome.
