We had the good fortune of connecting with Starr Barrett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Starr, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting GodXess LLC was driven by a deep desire to teach my daughter the value of self-reliance and entrepreneurship. By creating this business together, I wanted to equip her with the skills and mindset necessary to thrive independently, ensuring that she would always have the ability to provide for herself and others.

What should our readers know about your business?
I got to where I am today by embracing the dual roles of being both a student and a teacher, always learning and sharing knowledge, while deeply believing in myself and building strong relationships with other entrepreneurs. What sets me apart from others is my unwavering determination—no matter the obstacles, I refuse to give up. The journey hasn’t been easy, and I’m still working towards my goals, but the challenges have taught me invaluable lessons. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is not to hesitate to say no—you can’t help everyone. It’s essential to surround yourself with people who have a high vibrational energy and to keep negative influences at bay.

What I want the world to know about GodXess LLC and my story is that our brand is built on resilience, empowerment, and holistic wellness. We are here to inspire others to thrive spiritually, mentally, and physically, and to create a community that uplifts one another.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d make sure they experienced the best of what the area has to offer. We’d kick things off with a meal at Slutty Vegan, where the food is not only delicious but also offers a unique and fun first-time experience. Next, we’d head over to Bar Vegan to enjoy some creative mocktails in a vibrant atmosphere. A visit to the spa would be on the agenda to relax and rejuvenate, followed by a peaceful walk in the park to clear our minds and connect with nature.

We’d catch a movie for some laid-back entertainment, and then explore downtown Atlanta, where there’s always something exciting happening—from live music and art exhibits to unique shopping experiences. Whether it’s a new event, a hidden gem, or just the lively energy of the city, downtown Atlanta is the perfect place to find something fun to do. This itinerary would give us a perfect mix of relaxation, entertainment, and memorable experiences!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to Ms. Mikel Dean, the owner of Bethune Banquet Hall and East Orange Youth Cultural Complex. Her unwavering support, mentorship, and dedication to empowering others have played a significant role in our journey with GodXess LLC. Ms. Dean’s passion for community and her commitment to fostering growth in others have been a constant source of inspiration for us, and we are incredibly grateful for her influence in our story.
